Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
You should probably order a metal gasket for the turbo to exhaust manifold joint as that RTV will turn to dust on the first drive. Unless the surfaces have both been machined I doubt it'll seal on its own.

Thanks I've thought about this but the manifold and turbo were both quite flat from testing with a straight edge. if it leaks its not a big deal to change as there Is enough space to remove the turbo without taking the manifold off and slip on the gasket.

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
I installed the used AGI roll bar (soft top spec) over the past week.
Really took my time and it was not a fun install trying to get the holes to line up with the supporting plates. Most of my holes turned into slots but it feels extremely sturdy regardless.
I really like the look of the AGI roll bar in comparison to others. Just personal preference.
However I will be looking into getting some proper padding (not pool noodles) for driver and passenger side as in a collision it may be possible that I'd knock myself out on the rollbar due to seating position.
I installed my AEM boost gauge that I kept from my wrx and amazingly it slots right into the eyeball vents
I'd like to compliment it by getting a wire-in gauge for my LC-1 as it's always good to know what your manifold pressure and AFR's are like.
Very simple install as previous owner had pre-existing wiring that I used and I T'd into my MAP sensor line from the adaptronic which means no extra hoses in the engine bay = winning.
Still waiting on a manual steering rack to arrive at my door. Should be any day now. Very eager to drive this car again as it's been on stands for almost 2 weeks now. Should have really only been 2 days My fault entirely though, oh well.

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
Manual steering rack arrived, whacked it in a few hours after I got it. Took the car for its first drive since adding the turbo. Was great, loud and great. Not even hard to drive so I don't know why I was worried about removing P/S, and my eyeball alignment tracks fairly straight which is great but my steering wheel is upside down because I forgot to centre it when adjusting everything!! Will be in for a real alignment soon, no bob jane spec this time.
Extremely obnoxious having an open dump pipe on a weekend, will be booking it into an exhaust shop to fabricate up a mild steel catback ASAP. Hoping it flows ok for 2.5". In hindsight I should have taken up Nitro Dann's offer on buying the catback as well as the manifold and dump pipe but could not justify it at the time!
Also purchased a hardtop which makes the car look a lot better than it used to. Glad I found a black one because it suits quite well
I haven't really made it into boost much as I have just plotted a relatively safe ignition map and my VE map for fuel is a bit rich (13.9- 14.2 AFR on cruise and richens up pretty quickly past 3k rpm) So will have some leaning out and auto tuning to do.
I made my first 2psi of boost and it fluttered a bit which is cool because of my lack of BOV
HOPEFULLY get at least my exhaust done this week without getting defected on my travel there then look forward to a tune from a professional, just on wastegate pressure which I believe is 7 or 8psi.
Aside from that the car idles very stable at stoich when warm at around 1000rpm and is perfectly driveable. No leaks at all and starts first try every time!
Need to make it's way on a dyno to see if everything will hold together and then I can finally enjoy the car after being on stands for what seems forever.

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
Made my way onto a dyno
Wasn't expecting too much on wastegate pressure, and unfortunately still on batch injection because I didnt feel like completing my sequential injection wiring.
Made around 150rwhp on 7psi! Mods include: T25, adaptronic 440d, 2.5" exhaust and log manifold + FMIC setup
Very happy with this, it feels very good to drive, on full boost just after 3k.
As a next set of upgrades i'd like to add bead rolls to all my intercooler piping, an EBC and up the boost to maybe 12-14psi if my clutch can handle it. This won't be for a while as I have to see if I run into any issues with cooling or what not in between. (still on stock cooling system). I would also like to add some heat shielding and ducting and remove my A/C.
It was fun turbocharging this car, hopefully I can paint it in the near future which will be another learning experience.

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
Nice! You should get a nice bump in power when you up the boost.
Re the cooling, mine is going strong with an oem auto ebay radiator and a coolant reroute.
Can't remember what clutch you have. My extra heavy duty xtreme clutch is doing the job nicely.

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
Thanks speed,
Sounds like you have it sorted with cooling.
I probably should have done a reroute when I did the clutch, but I don't think I will suffer too many heat issues just on the street.
If I do, it will be time for an eBay ally radiator, should have space for a 52 or 42mm, and an OEM undertray.
I have an extreme HD clutch, don't think it's the extra heavy duty, but maybe it is. I know two people in WA running the same clutch as me on 1.6's and it's held around 15psi on a similar turbo, which is more than I think i'll pump into the 1.6

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
You'll be fine with that set-up.
I did have a 52mm alloy rad but it was too tight for my liking, that's why I went the oem. The auto rad has a similar size core to the SE and looks stock.

Think I spotted you today, has it got stickers or weird paint on the back bumper?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Yea that would be me!
Just weird paint, the exterior of the car is a mess, some panels are sanded and primered.
It will be all one colour in the future

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
Have put a bit over 1000km on the car with the turbo setup.
It's been going great, Recently changed to HPR10 - 50 oil. previously was on the hpr5-40
Can't really tell much of a difference but feel a bit better having a slightly thicker oil for harder driving.
Today I got the car aligned by John Fowler Autosport, a big thanks to okibi for the recommendation. as John really knows what he's doing and it's a lot better than any alignment this car has had before that i've dríven on.
Really have to take the car for a good run before I can comment on the alignment properly but so far so good

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
Thought i'd update this thread as a few things have happened.
Basically doing things that I neglected to do earlier/cheaped out on.
First up. My manifold to turbo gasket... or rtv blew out a week or two ago
I replaced this with a gktech 3 piece mls gasket. I was warned that this would happen, should have listened
You can see the accumulated black exhaust gas on the manifold.
Pretty simple job all done with 1 12mm wrench, As I could move the turbo out of the way enough to clean the surfaces and put the gasket on without disconnecting any lines.
I wired in and setup my mac 3 port valve as my boost controller.
Pretty straight forward job. Have got the boost up to around 150-165 kpa which was all fun and games until my AIT sensor bung blew off
Yes that is cold weld/cold steel from supercheap. Blew out shortly after running 8psi but survived multiple WOT runs on 7psi.
With a few facebook messages I got this welded up and all my other intercooler pipes to have beads welded around to prevent them blowing off when I get a retune for more boost
Absolutely amazed how much better a proper weld looks compared to my previous bodge job
I painted all my intercooler pipes this aluminium colour and I love how it looks
I also upgraded to sequential injection which made my idle noticeably smoother and the transition into boost is more gradual/smoother (not a placebo trust me )
Re-tune next thursday! Super excited and enjoying the car alot.

Re: Jordan's NA6 [WA]
Took the car down to hyperdrive for the retune
Very happy with the results and the car is a blast to drive now. Hits alot harder than before.
Its at about 11-12psi and net almost 130rwkw.
Don't really have too many more things I want to do with the car besides take it to the track/joining the mx5club
The list includes
- removing A/C (didnt work anyway)
- removing softop
- Catchcan
- Aluminium radiator and ducting and possibly a coolant reroute
Also some decent tyres that aren't r-comps as It's mainly a street car currently
Oh and a 3.9 or 4.1 torsen as this 3.6 open sort of sucks, good for cruising thats about it :p
