Threw a bit of this through!! :D :D

Not SUBARU but seemed to do the job.
Image

Removed the bastard LOCKING NUT, so the 18's are off!!
Image

Found a small issue from who ever did the 1.8 install.
Image

The fan shroud is cutting into the 1.6 intake piping.
Not a big deal, i will sort that out easily.

Can anyone tell me what this could be under the passenger side bonnet edge?

Had nothing to do this morning so i cleaned up the ROADSTER floor mats that where under the seats.

They were disgusting!!
After a good soak and disinfectant, , they came up a treat.

I had to glue the ROADSTER logo back on.
The passenger mat had a small bald spot in the middle.
My Girlfriend found something we had bought a few years ago in the states floating around in a cupboard.

I LOVE IT!!

In other more sensible news, i have quite a bit of stuff on its way.

949 RACING
CARBOTECH PADS xp10F XP8R
MOTUL RBF600 Fluid
BRAIDED LINES

Also some much needed servicing items.
MX5 UK PARTS (so much cheaper than AUS)
Oil Filter
Fuel Filter
Cam Sensor 'O' Ring
Sump Plug Washer
Dipstick
Battery Retaining Hook Bolt
Clutch Slave Cylinder
Gearlever Shift Boot Package
Cam Cover Gasket

Also have a set of Front DBA slotted rotors and will just get some standard RDA rear rotors.

Once this all arrives i can get to work!!
Can not wait

Tuned pats na6 today.

E85.

Picked up 70rwhp at 4500 tapering down to 50rwhp gain at 8200 rpm for a total of 297rwhp and 651Nm torque at 18psi. Was on petrol and 17.8psi previously.

Ill be building a new manifold, dump and exhaust for the run to 350-400 for him.

How did you measure? Using someone's dyno? Torque would depend on gear and diff ratio yah?

Yeah...

Torque on a chassis dyno is a BS number really.

Tuned on john collins dyno in newcastle.

I have been quite busy

I finally got that bloody shifter sorted i think.
Zossy1 kindly offered for next to nothing a 5 speed shifter from a NB.
After a bit of confusion, it seems to work well.
New shifter boots and Nylon collar and i think it will be fine.
I also changed all fluids on the car including the box and turrent.

The shifter was a bit rusty and honestly, i was bored, stuck inside with the rain.
So i painted it wrinkle black and even baked it in the girlfriends little oven.
SHHHHH!!!
Image

Looks alright.
Once i get the interior all back in you will hardly see it anyways.

MX5 MANIA supplied me a set of nice new YELLOWSPEEDs for $950.
Image

They are the street version, Dynamic Pro or something something.
My lil bro has these in his Silver NA and i have not been able to fault them yet, especially for under a Grand.

Was not sure where to start in regards to height so i just matched the shock length to stock and then reduced by a set amount.
I think it was like an inch? I know, i know. i should have written this down.
Image

I did a similar thing for the rear.

Seemed to turn out ok.
Will do a final height adjustment before alignment.

Finally lost those bloody 18's.
Emily_mxV hooked me up from a car she was wrecking with some pretty decent nick NB8A 15" wheels.
Image

Front come with BOB JANE Tyres and rear with some ECO TOYO's.
Not exactly sport orientated but the tread is good and will do to roll around on. :D

I had also realised that 2 of my Brake calipers have leaks and it was going to cost a bit to rebuild them all.
As if the car gods where in my favour, Boyracer offered up a set of NB8B/SE BRAKES!!
Needless to say i nabbed these.

I had already ordered from 949 RACING Carbotech XP10 & XP8's, MOTUL Fluid and Stainless lines.
Image

My lil bro will prob buy the pads off me and the lines work with the bigger brakes.
I did double check this with Emilio from 949.
So this was today's mission.

Fronts all went well.
I just bent the oem brake shields out of the way.
Seriously those things feel like they are just made out of wet paper.
Image

Put the lines on and all went well.
HUGE VISUAL IMPROVEMENT!
Image

Can someone please suggest if my orientation of that brake lines is bad?
Should i make it loop upwards instead of down?
Looking at it now i worry that it is more likely something can grab it if i have a off road excursion.

The rears i had some issues with the shields.
Ended up just going to town with tin snips.
BEFORE
Image
AFTER
Image

Yeah it is not the tidiest but it worked pretty well.
When i get around to doing all the bushes i will also do the hubs/bearings and remove the rear shields completely.

How the car sits at the moment.
Image

I am booked in at SPINNING WHEEL tomorrow morning at 930am.
I will have to get up early and play a bit with the height to get it where i want it for now before Stu gets his hands on it.

In a few months when i get my sways, bushes etc done i will get another more aggressive setup.
Still quite a few things to do, but if all goes well tomorrow then i will feel much better and can start planning the rest.

Looks a lot better now.

Lol this build sort of has the feeling of a doctor telling a patient something along the lines of. " look we've found something bad. But the good news is we've caught it in time. Your going to make a full recovery" :)

Just a word of advice about the accelerator bracket for you, Dweez. They often break in the first place because the cable is set too tight, so that when you put your foot to the floor the whole system is under too much strain. You need to adjust the cable length at the adjusters near the throttle body so that it's just a poofteenth short of taut when the pedal is fully depressed.
