Not much to report.
Met gyro pilot at PITS today and got his news and his opinion of the Clubman.
Gave him a demo of Hayden's tail happy driving style on that big arse corner coming up from Brookylyn to PITS. Fun to get some drifting! :D

I missed out on some Victorian NA8 wheels and new Pirelli tyres today, so am losing hope of finding OE looking 14s for the car. The 15x6.5 Lenso Racer wheels are great, though. Kuhmo rubber is surprisingly good too.

So the mod of the day. To celebrate the recent cold weather, I turned my ring blue!

Anyone have an opinion on old school muscle car wheels on my white Clubman?

These just remind me of a white A9X with the flares and drop tank!

Maybe I should just rattle-can-orange some daisy 14" wheels and be done then! :D

They look cool on a black NA, anyway. Trouble is, 14s are non existent in NSW yet they give them away in VIC!

Patience young grasshopper :P

You will find the wheels your after, just take your time, don't rush it. Nice vent rings, perhaps you should choose a colour theme to run with? White with blue looks good, but you have a lot of options with white, unlike my red!

P.S I will have a tidy tail once my new wheels and tyres are fitted!

Quick links. Comments welcome!

I have an idea to wrap a few bits of the interior in durasuede, ultrasuede, alcantara, whatever.

Firstly, you may not need to wrap if you prefer someting cheap, cheerful and dished like this. Hayden, Bryan, Vic, anyone else who wants a dished wheel...

Or the real deal: http://www.amazon.com/Momo-R1909_35S-Su ... B00067XZAY

Otherwise find a good trimmer or DIY like this helpful person's guide:
DIY alcantara wrap for $80:

I don't know if I should source it locally or O/S:
Ultrasuede on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ULTRASUEDE-F ... 0711316129

I've contacted a bloke called Dave on the Silvia forums since his mate does this kind of wheel retrim, too.

Here's a dash pad with an alcantara or synthetic suede wrap. Someone else posted this recently.

As Victor (Badbong) found out the other day, wrapping the dash and wheels takes a lot of time and you really need to factor the cost against the final product. I mean it won't make the car worth anything more, but as long as youcan justify the cost then i'd say go for it.

Personally, I like the stock dash, and plan to make mild interior improvements nothing to that degree though.

My new wheels, when i bother to get it, will be a secret until it is installed.

Good points. Mod where it really matters and that's the suspension and wheels on our cars. Sorry I can't be there for the unveiling and the installing of someone's coilovers.

Once installed, YES PLEASE add some pics in the appropriate threads, since I won't be here but will be very interested, since you've chosen the best wheel IMHO, for NA MX5s on street/track duty.

I had better make Zs.

Thanks, Robert, for the invite on a drive this morning.

We met at the park on the road to Galston Gorge and drove Old Northern to Wisemans Ferry, then around the back of Mangrove Mountain, up to Kulnurra and the Great Northern road to Wollombi.

We pretty much had the drive up there to ourselves and most of the way back, until Kulnura and the slow driver who wanted to hold everyone to a slow speed.

Such a pleasure. Thanks and I hope to return the favour from September.

I've passed on your card to my coffee roa(d)ster friend and he's keen to do a barista course, so he can show off his roasts!

How good was the weather this weekend, for drives?

Hi all, it was inspirational to attend the MX5 Mania / Juice polishes day yesterday and to learn a few things and see so many great NA MX5s!

An alternative to the door-pull in the M2 1028 pics is what this person did (along with race seats, carpet console) to their 944 racer, which looks good as a whole unit:

Here are the Porsche door pull parts. GT2 RS bits seem to be a bargain. Interesting anyway.
