A bunch of us meet at The Garage Cafe in Carlton every Thursday night. http://www.garagecafe.com.au

We usually arrive at around 7:30 and stay till late. There's Coffee, Great Food, Great People, Great Cars and plenty to talk about.

Hope to see you there.

BTW, Nice photo's Gareth, I'm happy with how they turned out.

Yeah I've been planing to come, I go to the Vicimports one once a month... I'll have to get around to coming some time soon.

Depending on what happens I should be there this week, if my car isn't in parts.

Not really a update on my MX5...... but i dragged my Grandfathers old 120y outa the shed & cleaned the 15years worth of dirt & grime off it. Prepped the engine for it's first start in 15 years! (my Grandfather passed away 12mths earlier)

Removed the spark plugs hand cranked the engine. Then I put a new battery & cranked it to gain oil pressure. Then put the plugs back in & put some fresh fuel in the tank. & force fed it with some fuel down the carby & away it went to my amazement 0_0

These old things just don't die

Looks like its in pretty good nick, just needs a good polish and some low :P

Looks like alittle bit of rust from water splashing off the wheels though :(

Yeah annoying about the rust....... I'm surprised it went fast enough to to splash water up the guards....... With its whole est 65Hp of fury @ the flywheel  & somewhat it has a towbar 0_0

You would be surprised what a little fettling can do to a 120Y/1200 Ute as many a HG 186 Holden discovered to their dismay.

The rust in the front guards is a common problem with most cars (even MX5's) as all the crap that falls on the windscreen gets trapped in the lower guard where it retains the moisture and rust's the guard from the inside.

Been a while since my last post.
So since April this year I have now done 15,000k's, cant believe how time fly's when you own a 5.... :D

Since last time I posted a upgrade/mod or repair I have replaced my old stock exhaust with Cheyne's old Genie system. (I replaced his with the heaps good Fujitsubo Legalis catback sytem.)

about 2 weeks after the exhaust was installed I had my first Motorkhana @ Avalon. & I did rather well for my first try at the driving discipline. 5th out of 8 in class i was told...... not bad for a noob. :)

& when i was there. emex come down from the northern end of the east coast "Brizy" for a week's holiday's just to some more checking out on what Victorians get up to down here. also on his way down picked up some goodies for me on the way down. :)

It's funny, having spent that week driving both Gareths & your cars pretty much back to back...similiar (as you do) and yet so different...I have missed driving an NA though.

I am a simple man I may not type too much in the way of words but...... a picture is worth 1000 words

Just a small update.....
Got some Smoked repeaters.

Hangin out @ Beacon Cove after a semi informal dodgey day

Image

& the eve of emex heading back to QLD
Image

& other news..... I have nearly just completed 20K in my mex now since handover in April. :D
on a sad note. My engine is on her last legs, will be interesting to see what happens now with that (with a bad case of SNC & buggered rings) the current heart is consuming more oil than a old rotary.

Also i have bought a left hand lower control arm to replace the damaged one that currently lives on the car. (captured nut is no longer captured)

A sign of new things to come.
-New Engine. prefered low milage with out SNC issues :/
-100k sirvice kit.
-Mazda comp. engine mounts.
-NB Roof.
-Lowering (Coilovers or Lowered spring/shock combo.... i have not decided yet).
-Diffrent rims & new tyres.
