Shouldnt need a detune. Your engineer has no idea on power output, and he also knows that most SEs will make over 120 at the wheels.

The engineer actually has a dyno at his workshop which he uses to confirm power output etc.

Dude unless the willwoods have dust caps you wont be able to get them engineered, iv been looking at some FD 4pot brakes and they look like they might be the ticket! If you can fit them will you still seed to do the brake test?
I dont care that my laces aren't fat or that I'm not even close to flush and I certainly don't want to be the illest!

Did you ask what does the brake test involves? Obviously the power output means you can get to speed quicker, but really the performance of the brakes comes down the the speed at which the test is done, pads, tyres and weight. Depending on what the test requires, you might be able to get away with it at a skid pan, could be a little cheaper than the track.

They're M1028/Vitaloni. Was originally planning on painting them red, however after having them on the car for the last week not sure anymore, seems to work well with the black hard top imo. Opinions?...

Nemo, I was really tired last night, otherwise would have loved to have been a St Ives last night.

After getting motivated reading a few garage threads, I've finally scored some Vitaloni mirrors, too, but not your M2 1028 beauties.

I'll post a report once I receive them!

How are your new wheels going? At least before the engineering...

I've heard of people getting Willwood's past engineering etc before, think it really comes down to the engineer themselves. I've brought it up a couple of times with my engineer cept he seems a lot more concerned with the brackets.

Yeah been getting in contact with some people in regards to FD brakes. Just gotta clear up what requirements my engineer needs with the brackets. Nah no brake test, and will look oem...ish. :lol:

Basically involves cold and hot tests of stopping distances from 100kmh etc. I have no doubt NB8B brakes would pass, however just the hassle of booking a track etc. Skidpan may be an option I will bring it up next time I talk to the engineer, in the long term was planning on upgrading the brakes anyway.

I wasn't at MB, was way too busy with uni work. :cry: Should be there this week though for a bit.

The wheels came with near new tires (albeit terrible) so just driving around on them atm trying to get as much use out of them before I slap on some semi's.

Side news, went down to Wakefield with Adrian and the Circuit Club guys mainly to spectate and help out. Got to do a couple of sessions in Ivan's NA6 (Koni yellow's, King springs, Torsen, front and rear sways and AD08's). Was wet in the morning but dried up during the day, still had some running water across turn 2 which made things interesting. Always interesting when you get to experience a different car. Was similar but different at the same time. Ended up with a 1:20.570. Needless to say think I've fallen back in love with the MX5. :D

Anyway, whilst doing "uni work" I managed to stumble upon the fact that only the SE's were rated at 121kw while the SP's were rated at 157kw.

Wow have not updated this in a long while. Quick recap of what has happened.

Got the go ahead using NB8B/SE Brakes from my engineer, managed to source down a set with the help of Charlie.
Got that on asap and fixed up a few other small issues, valve cover gasket was leaking a fair bit and had a small exhaust leak. Suli helped make up a stainless heat shield for the hot side of my motor. Car got approved with the engineer and all was good. :D

During this time started adding to the pile of parts under my bed, including these:

The wait is unfortunately only halfway over :(, but until this morning was the only set of 4x100 Equip 02's I'd ever seen. :D Just need to get me a set of 01's to complete the family. :lol:

Couple of other things include :
Version 2 of the Ryoku Rob tow hooks in the recent group buy
Bride Zeta 2 which Suli has helped me make up some rails for to mount
Stainless radio blanking plate
Carbotech XP12 fronts and XP10 rears

Just ironing some final things with the car, can't wait till I get this thing back out on the track.
