Cutting after machining wont hurt at all, just cut slow so as to not heat the surface a lot and warp it. Or cut before machining. Thats the ETD greddy manifold right? Everyone at MT relief cuts those.

Yeah it is Dann.
Really wish i had of thought of that when i had it machined.

I will have to have a look through MT tonight.
Just been googling and found a few people saying that ETD state that they void the warrenty if cuts ar emade.
Not that i think i have any warrenty, just i wonder why they do not reccomend it?

Also, are the cuts usually made between the runners?
How thick?
Could you do it with a hacksaw?
Or is that totally not going to give a wide enough gap?

Don't worry, there's enough mx5's in the world that can be resprayed to be in malibu gold.

Hacksaw width would be fine.

Honestly, id leave it, and if it cracks weld it and then cut it.

At least sunshine yellow is the safest color. How about some more pics of your wheels?

They are just MS03's.
I stripped them and painted them black a couple of years ago.
They were a pressie from the girlfriend :)

Here's a pic of them this morning.
Sorry for the crummy phone pic.

I can post up photoshopped versions of those items above in a malibu gold if you want.

I photoshopped both anyway.

I got an image of red mx5's with the lip and lights, and adjusted them so the gold/yellow colour might not be spot on (especially with the one with gv lights)

Thanks mate.

Love the look, but i am a little doubtfull i would go the flares, and then maybe the Trap lip would look a little Weak Sauce without them :frown:

That would be an amazing car. I would prefer the GV lip with an NA, something so right about it.

I wouldn't go for the flares either.

NA's look great because they're small and the ride heights fairly low as well. Flares just ruin the smooth lines of the car most of the time, also you'd need to go for a wider wheel to fill the guards.

I agree with Aussie Stig, a GV lip gives the NA's an aggressive yet smooth look to the car. However I'd reconsider for a malibu gold (same as mariner blues and british racing green, all the other colours suit the GV lip well), I think you're better off with a Rspeed lip.

Well i have finally had a proper chance to drive the car.
Seems i have a bit of vibration/pulsation i can feel in the clutch pedal when i start to depress it.

I am assuming that something is not right.
Maybe the flywheel is not on flush or i bent the fingers on the pressure plate?
Could this be the reason?

I have not changed the engine mounts, and it did sit leaning forward on them for about 4 weeks.
Could they have broken?
As good as this scenario would be, i am thinking not, as i can only feel it in the clutch pedal.
I also noticed the engine running just slightly rougher.
Perhaps, in the hassle of getting the box back up in there, i have bent something.
Hoping against hope it is not like the input shaft or something equally as hard to replace.

Has anyone had this issue before and if so what was the outcome?

I am leaving for NZ today, back in a week or so.

Ready to tackle 'Operation, get gearbox back out, and fix what i screwed up'!

Will actually give me a chance to know that my seals are not leaking, hopefully some piece of mind.

Thanks in advance !!! :D

Oh, and have a TOPS Xmas (holidays) all!!

Happy New Year all!!!!

Decided to have a bit of a first go at the Megasquirt install.
Original ECU came out easy enough, noticed that i will have to make up a bracket to mount it in the original location. ughhh

so its just sitting on the deck for now. No probs.

Image

Found a rubber grommet to run the Vacuum line through,

Image

But only after did i realise that the vacuum line i bought is only 2.8mm ID, which is too narrow i think.
Image
I am assuming i should match the line diameter of the FPR, which seems to be 4mm.
Happy to be corrected though!

Try to figure it all out tomorrow, looking forward to playing with the Megasquirt :P

I ordered the AIT sensor and a LC1 WB which i have, but just to make it easier on me to get the car started with the MS, Could someone confirm for me that it should start if i just keep the stock AFM connected? Once it starts i will then install the LC1, and save the the AIT for when the Turbo goes on, as i do not want to cut up the stock intake pipe to fit the sensor in.

haha, well i got bored, decided to just hook up the vacuum hose i had to the nipple on the throttle body, without a tee from the FPR.
Took my netbook down, all hooked up, PC saw the ECU all fine, went through the writeup BRaineack sent me when he built it.
Turned the key..... just stumble stumble.
I need to look further into it.
It was a rushed try

Worse thing is my Netbook battery only seems to last like 20 mins now for some reason.
So i think thats enough for today.
Time to keep reading and see how i go tomorrow.
