wow ORX626, you should consider opening a shop with your skills.........

Any idea on a time frame for completion? I'd love to be back home when you hit the track in this beast. Looking real good mate.

Hey Derek, I'm working towards hitting the track early next year. Are you and Michelle returning to Oz for a holiday in 2014?

Cheers,
Danny

Nice work as usual Danny. A few questions:
Can you get your desired camber from the standard adjusters? If not will you modify the front sub frame or put offset rigid bushes in the lower wishbones? If you are going for HUGE camber it may affect your steering measurements.
How is that collector going to get welded out? I expect from the inside and you'll dress the welds for good flow? It looks pretty hard to access from outside.

Keep these updates flowing I'm loving this build.

The upshot with the aero package we're putting together is that the vehicle shouldn't (hopefully won't) require any more negative camber than what is available with the factory suspension geometry. However, the magnitude of the front and rear downforce won't be fully realised until track testing has begun. 8)

Thanks Gerard. I've just got make sure that it doesn't get derailed again!

Read the whole thing from front to where you are now. Can't say that I'm not a little pleased it ended up being 20B PP

although I was quite interested to see how the the charged renesis would perform.

It's amazing just how much projects change over long periods of time, mine has changed upwards of a thousand times in my head so far

It's a long process but glad to see your doing it right

Thanks for the support Marcus. :D

Exactly....if the project hadn't been in hibernation for near on 3 years I doubt it'd taken the path to where it is now. The scope and specification has also changed with knowledge and experience too. Having been involved with Time Attack cars over the last 4 years has certainly influenced the approach and build spec of the NC.

With regards to the supercharged Renesis engine, I have a customer that still runs the Hymee supercharger kit. Over the last 3 years I've got it to a point where he is able to live with the design shortcomings. I've resolved all the oiling issues, however the air-bypass valve requires a full redesign but it is integrated with the supercharger mounting. So there is no quick and cheap solution. Hence he has learned to live with it. I still have a kit for my own road registered RX-8, but it won't be going back on the car until I've resolved these issues.

Cheers,
Danny

Work on the collector continued after I received the flanges and "ninja stars" from the laser cutters.

Trial fitment of the cone reducer. :P

Trial fitment of the 5-bolt flange.

The end of the collector was tweaked to a rounder shape.

Internal welding completed.

Then tidied up with a little die grinding and TLC.

5-Bolt flange welded out.

...and to complete the collector the cone reduce was trimmed to suit the 3 1/2" V-band flange and then fully welded out to complete the collector. 8)

So that's another job ticked off the list! At some point (with the rest of the exhaust system) it will be ceramic coated. :BROADY:

Danny
