4 would be stronger and less susceptible to twisting (or is there a recessed lip to fit over the lower half on the "intake manifold" - looks like there is).
plohl, I thought it was preferable NOT to use metal plumbing since it heatsoaks.
This has been an issue with many aftermarket CAIs, performance improvements are typically quoted using the first dyno run results, after that subsequent runs tend to be no better, sometimes worse, than the OEM intake because the aftermarket CAI has absorbed so much heat, reducing its efficiency.
If the plumbing is kept on the coldside only, which this looks like, it's probably not as big an issue as if it were on the hotside.
