This. In my experience, you may need to ensure there are no points of contact with the carbra that may rub against your paint (the one I have for the NC has plastic clips which I cover with leccy tape to avoid abrasion). Worthwhile though, if only to avoid having to scrub of all the dead bugs at the end of your trip!

Glad you painted them white, they would have been extremely noticeable in green against your white car.

Tip: Use your scissor jack to help align the doors correctly and do take the time to do it properly - you'll hate yourself otherwise if they don't shut nicely.

Also, you should use washers on those bolts - get some larger ones from Bunnings because mine weren't wide enough.

Is the bushing still in the turret? I noticed it's not on clipped on the end of the stick in the second photo

good observation! I have just replaced it with the delrin shifter tip bushing from miata roadster which so far I am pretty happy with the swap.

They make a noticeable (in a good way) difference to the shift!
Such a crappy original piece from Mazda. My factory one kept falling off, so put a large washer in the bottom of the turret to hold it in till I upgraded to a short shifter

That engine bay looks far too clean. A drive through the NT should sort that right out

true! ...what I have plan for it is a pretty long run plus a fair bit of dirt so I guess will either drive it back or scrap it...
