Speed's boosted NA6

Rubbed it back, to metal in the worst parts.
Gave her 2 coats of etch primer, 3 coats of rattle can colour.
You can't see it in the photo but I had to go all the way around to the right under the clutch master too.

Once the colour is dry I'll give it 2 coats of clear, let that dry and throw the NB master in.

In between coats I swapped the connector on the master over to the NA6 one. Interestingly the male/female are opposite between the units. To do this I de-pinned and re-pinned with new terminals.

This is what the front brakes look like.

Once the 2nd coat of clear is dry I'll remove the masking tape, clean up the overspray (from the third colour coat!) and fit the new booster/master.

I'm also curious to see the warning light on the dash having no fluid in it. Have never seen it lit up before!

They will be illegal - unless you can get them engineered.

Also, Willwood calling them a proportional valve is stretching the truth!
They do zero proportioning, as they are not even connected to the front brake circuit. They are just simple pressure reducing valves placed in the rear circuit.

Replacement booster sitting in place, ready to bolt up.
I also painted the brake stop black. It came out so well that I'll be doing a few other engine bay brackets the same colour

Thanks Bruce. I could have spent more time with prep and masking but it cleaned up well.
I'm almost disappointed that you can't really see it now that its all back together

When these hard to see and get to areas look ok, no one ever notices, but any slight blemish and everyone does

Anyone know if the factory brake proportion valve differs on NB models?
Am struggling to find any useful info on the interwebs.

Today I bled the brakes and went for a short test drive. The fronts brake well but also lock up without the rears locking.

I'm now on the hunt for the 276mm rear brakes to match the 270mm brakes that I have up front. I've also been advised to get the appropriate stock bias proportion valve. The problem is that I can't find if the valve is the same on all non abs NB's or not.

Apparently the abs models don't have a proportion valve, rather a distribution block that looks the same.

I'm hoping the valve that is attached to my NB master is useable and that I just need the rear discs and calipers.

Does anyone know for sure? Bonus points if you know of some 276mm rear brakes for sale

No guarantee but I can check with Daz to see if he still has my old front and rear disc’s somewhere in his workshop........ its been a little while since I put the new DBA’s on mine but if he does they are yours mate-

I don't know for sure, I'm currently pain-killered off my face until the dentist can fit me in in like two weeks. BUT.

I recall seeing a lovely graph on (i'm pretty sure) mt.net which has the differences in the prop valves for NA/NB/NB ABS - ABS is linear but the NA/NB are only linear to a point, then they become more front-loaded.

OK, I found it, it wasn't mt.net.

As an aside, on my car with the 1.6 prop valve and the 1.8 brakes, the fronts do seem to do way more work when I'm standing on the pedal. I've not pushed it to lock-up (on a good surface) but with the brakes and AD08s and progressively (but quickly) standing on the pedal to get the weight to transfer up front, it drops a lot of speed quite rapidly, but I can hear the front tyres biting into the road. But at the moment with the smallest factory rears, and the biggest factory fronts, you're quite possibly in the middle of the Chaos Zone (tm).
