Either talk to a scrutineer first, or do it and hope it gets through, and if it doesn't, do it the way it will get through. "It" being whatever takes your fancy, in the first place, and in the second place, whatever the scrutineer says is needed.
Criteria: cheap, quick, easy, works. In reverse order actually, although we might think otherwise initially. Can add lightness in there if you want. Against that, sticking with the factory top panel(s), and sealing the sides, worked for me. Aluminium tape on the underside closes the holes (put it on the top and it invites the scrutineers to object). YMMV of course.
