When I tried this mod, I was purchasing some stuff from an O/S site and the vendor charged me US$0.50 cents for the diodes since I only wanted a couple, then sent me a pack of about 1,000 of them in the package since they're cheap and he felt bad about the S&H price for the package for all my stuff (they were all small electronic components). I turned my place upside down looking for these when I was looking for the FM O2 mod for you but couldn't find them anywhere - may have given them to an ex-workmate?

Yeah I have an old mate who's an ex electronics technician who has a shed full of components from when he shut his repair business down ... could have got all the parts I need for free, except he's no longer talking to me after I "mentioned" to him his treatment of his wife ...

Since the upgrades to the injectors and CAI, I've noticed this happening ...

That's from a short drive of about 50kms today - it was clean when I left.

Is this due to extra fuel from the injectors? Always had some there, but not that much that fast ... or maybe the foot's just down a lot more now ... :roll:

You're now running rich (vs lean in a few spots when you start adding POWA modz with the stock ECU).

I can see an ECU upgrade in your future

Save your money Kev and get an Elite. Very happy with mine. Had my wife drive mine the other day. Her comment was what did you spend all that money on? It's not that fast. I said put your foot down. Then she screamed all the way to 100. I just laughed. The point though was that it is so smooth and easy to drive that until she planted the foot she said it was just like driving the Kluger that we own.

I have a fear of heights and am holding on tightly to the top of that slide ... but the kids who have been down it before, and know how much fun it is, are pushing from behind and slowly loosening my grip ... :mrgreen:

Juicy HiC, I've been keeping up with your move to the Haltech, and I have to admit that you're experience with the way it was done and the results so far, gives real food for thought.

More importantly at the moment, I need to drive the car a lot more and get a better feel for the car. Lokiel helped me out with an FM O2 modifier and some good advice and I'll do the standard "band aid" mods to try to smooth the glitches a little and see how all that goes ...

I lived with "the band aid modz" for a while and this is what I found:

1. The car did run rich
2. Until the car warmed up, it was pretty rough at start, coughing and spluttering a bit
3. Once warmed up, between 3-5minutes, it was OK

It was only when MINX took me for a drive in his SE with similar breathing/exhaust/injector modz AND a Haltech ECU that I realised how rough, even warmed up, my car was and that motivated me to get an aftermarket ECU.

I'm at the top of the slide too - the other kids look so happy at the bottom. I've decided I want to jump before taking any more baby steps though. I'm not messing around with the O2 mod, or an MBC, just saving money and brownie points to get the car to Dann for the whole hog, with trimmings.

I haven't yet been for a ride in a sorted ECU'd car. Lokiel, want to take me for a blast one day - even though Gina is a little further evolved?

So far, probably because I haven't upgraded anything exhaust side yet, idle and cold start has been fine. Signs are there that it's running a bit richer. Maybe I should be considering wideband to see what it's doing?

Money's part of the thought process for sure, but those brownie points :roll:

... but yeah, that would be the more sensible way for sure ...

But I'm also enjoying taking the baby steps and learning how each affects the car. Even as it is, I'm disappointed that I haven't been more patient in fitting the few upgrades that I have, both power and chassis. I should have just done one at a time, then dríven it for long enough to appreciate the benefit (or not) of each.

I have soooooo many brownie points. I have ALL the brownie points. Unfortunatly, like any good rewards program they aren't able to be applied to anything practical or desirable :cry:

So, third time lucky .... went to another tyre place today to get the vibration in the car checked out. I had thought that fitting the roll bar would solve it, but it hadn't made any difference. Turns out I have a buckled wheel with two areas on the inside of the wheel with 4mm deviation flat spots. Thinking back, I'm pretty certain I know when this happened as well. The out of round vibrations had eventually thrown the weights off, which is why I've been feeling it so much more lately. Not happy that the other (big name) places hadn't found this! This place did a really good job of counter balancing it so that it's almost undetectable while I look at options. Felt a lot better on the drive home.

edit: ... oh, and what does the guy doing the wheel alignment talk to me about? How much better my car would be with a Haltech and a really good tune .... :roll:

Crazy week, but finally found some spare time to fit my front Bear Hook.

Easy part first ... remove the grille and fit the hook. Took all of about 10 minutes.

Then on to modifying the grill to fit with the hook. This finished up being more complicated and time consuming than I'd imagined, but happy with the end result. On first look, I thought I'd only have to take off the end of one strip, but many trial fittings ended up requiring three removed, and then the brackets modified to allow the grill to sit further back in the mouth.

Once it looked like it fitted properly, I gave it all a spray of Satin Black and fitted it in ...
