Re: Zohxoco's NC1
I went with the 17X8 ET50 PF01.
Figures the 2mm difference was not worth thinking about and they are a little cheaper than the same wheel in a 48ET.
Again no clearance issues with a 235 and same offset as the 16 X 8 track wheel

Re: Zohxoco's NC1
Yeah it's the offset, not the width that seems to be the problem. The wheels I wanted in 17x8 are +45 which is getting into rubbing territory, from what I read on the forums. +48 and above are ok. However I think 45 is ok with some camber (I'll get a decent alignment soon) but I didn't want any risk.

Re: Zohxoco's NC1
BTW I have a feeling that we can now run wheels 40mm wider than std providing track is increased by no more than 25mm.
Need to check the RTA website.

Re: Zohxoco's NC1
OK so tonight it was dry so I took her out for a test drive. I'm really struggling to describe in words what this is like. The SC really changes the car so dramatically. Or rather, how you drive it. I'm having to learn all over again.
First of all, I take back what I said about low revs torque. There's plenty. You can tool around in 5th and 6th at almost speed (obviously not too low) and still have plenty of power to react to traffic and generally drive safely. So relaxing! But that's not really what the car is about of course!
Secondly, at pretty much any speed, in traffic you just look where you want to go, and go. Overtaking and manoeuvring in traffic is now a breeze- all with due care and safety of course.
Thirdly, aural qualities. It's different. Firstly, the supercharger is very quiet. You have to listen for the whine really. The sound through the GWR exhaust is more fuller, more forceful. Luckily it's not any boomier, but it is louder and has slightly less of that lovely throaty rasp to it. However, possibly that was actually more to do with my dodgy sparkplugs! You still get the pops on runoff, and with the tune, the sound at or near idle is really deep and sweet.
Finally, acceleration. It's genuinely, ridiculously, fast. Obviously there is no way to safely measure such acceleration on public roads. But from what I experienced today, I would estimate that sandor on the miata.net Cosworth thread is right on the money:

Even with the clutch completely out and then put the foot down, the tires break loose and I have to feather the throttle until I hit second gear. based on the numbers, the car should be able to get in the high 4's if the tires were not a limiting factor. I am running the most rubber I can fit under the fenders without cutting them and putting on a flare kit.

Wow i guess the 190kw tune isnt really necessary
thanks for trying to describe, must feel amazing
EDIT: i guess SC is louder with smaller pulley

Honestly, more than this would not be useful on the street with a manual transmission. There's definitely a skill required to actually make use of this power. I think with an automatic it would be easier.
On the track, of course more is better!

Not sure if you heard, mania tuned an automatic and it got 140kw. Owner had a bit of trouble with the traction control kicking in alot
I might get the glass baffles to tame the sound if too loud

Re: Zohxoco's NC1
Actually the sound is only louder at WOT, and in normal driving, you're much less likely to be at WOT than before, so to be honest, the sound is actually quieter in normal driving, and you even have the option to stay in a higher gear if you're in granny mode. And it's a much deeper note (as deep again as the change from stock muffler to Q). Also, that raspiness I thought had gone is still there, just masked a little by all the other noises
So I finally think I've got this thing worked out. It really enjoyed the run today, and the engine really feels super strong everytime with no side effects. Honestly I've really been trying to find some negatives but I've given up. Supercharger is definitely worth it. It's adds a whole new dimension to the car. NC'ers do yourself a favour and get a drive in one, I'm happy to give you a go if you're serious once the car is safe (ie. new rubber). Like I said today, I bet you'll be plotting how to save up for one before you've even stepped out of the car.
Finally, I would just like to personally thank Daniel Deckers for his painstaking attention to detail on this install. He has thoroughly researched the job and knows all the pitfalls- he even found a potential problem with my kit and fixed it before it eventuated, not to mention designing new RHD customisations to the kit and debugging existing problems I didn't know I had!

hey dean i have the 4.1. Was going to switch back to 3.7 for the SC. You think it's better with 4.1?

I'll take it!
Lol, yeah let the bonkers continue. Good to know there's always the 4.1 as an option once the rush wears off.
Took her out for another spin tonight. I'm really digging the decreased sound output when cruising compared to the old boomy GWR sound. I can actually think again! Of course the loud pedal is, well, loud.

By the way I got 422km out of my first tank of fuel with the SC. Don't forget, that's with *plenty* of umm, "test drives". I'm quite astonished actually.
But tonight I spent more time reflecting on these RT-615ks which I'm finding very weird. Firstly I would say, if anything, traction might even be worse than my standard road tyres (and they're 50% or more done, and skinnier). Could it be that they take a while to wear in? I've covered about 100km on them so far (mind, you the tyres probably think they've gone further...)
Secondly, I notice they pick up a lot of gravel and whatever, and spit it out at the guards, causing a lot of annoying tinny noises as they bink, bink, bink against the guards. That's gonna get old fast

Thirdly, this is really strange (for me!) but they don't squeal if they lose traction, they just silently slide. Quite odd, but not a bad thing really...
Fourthly the ride is rougher than the standard road tyres. Luckily road noise isn't worse. I can probably live with this (I was already thinking of tweaking the coilovers to get harder but probably won't now).
Finally, THEY RUB
