Assume Mt style depower? the 'proper' way...?

I just followed the process off flyin miata. I still want to take the pinion out though and get it welded up. Don't know when that'll happen.

I only just noticed your post dann - I saw Paul's this morning but not yours.

I assume you mean welding up the pinion spline?

The torque on that internal nut is pretty important, perhaps that's why the steering is epic heavy? I've done the same on my track car (cutting out the seals & replacing fluid with grease) and the steering doesn't feel that heavy really? Maybe 10% heavier than a non-PS NA?

How much caster are you running tim? Im at 6*.......

I will look into the steering wheel torque tonight. Have to get the toe aligned at some point too.

Plohl,
I'm running a fair amount of caster on mine. Was it heaver than that?
Mine, to me feels on the heavy side, and on the track can get a bit of a hand full when it gets a bit loose. My arms feel like they've had a good work out the next day.
cheers

haha, i like the sound of driving more! Although the gym requires less concentration... well, more focusing on one thing as opposed to many.

Yeah, thought that was what you were talking about dann. There is a fair bit of discussion about whether to weld or not to weld on MT. Going to talk to someone this week about it, so might have it sorted sooner rather than later.

So I have a bunch of stuff coming from the states now

Stealth Catch can from 42DD,
Willwood proportioning valve,
Competition spec engine mounts - hopefully these stop the engine moving so much that the headers hit the trans tunnel

Helped sailaholic do some wiring on his car last - hope to finish off his COPs on the weekend.

Slowly getting used to the steering. I haven't dríven it too much, but had a wheel alignment done on wed - made a bit of an improve at one wheel had like 5mm toe in  I can still palm the steering wheel around a little (50km/h+) but haven't gone through any twisties yet to see how things are at speed and when you are actually working the wheel corner after corner after corner. I have been running my daily wheels too. 14's with 185/60R14, so it'll be interesting to see how much more harder it is to steer with the 15's (205/50R15) on it.
Cheers,
plohl

Need to lower the car a bit more - Looks like a 4wd.

Car is up and running - few hiccups such as the COPs popping off (working on a solution), exhaust hitting the racing beat rear brace and headers bashing the transmission tunnel. Hopefully have all that stuff sorted in the coming week. This said – the engine has made a huge difference. I think I underestimated the time it is going to take me to adjust to it. I am hoping to try and make the Mt. cotton hill climb at the end of april, however, this depends on a ROPS.

I am getting used to the steering. It’s not that bad, but I am still yet to go fast and put the bigger tyres on. I can still palm it around small corners.

plohl

Nice one,
I'll be out at mt cotton. Looking forward to seeing you having a run. Hopefully the parts that make up are cars don't end up with the same result.
What are you going with roll over protection?

Yeah, it would be awesome to be out racing!

Still unsure on the ROPS yet - might get a tall boy from plus for the time being. I still want to go a full cage though, just too poor haha
Cheers,
plohl
