Good luck, I'm immensely keen to see it come together!

Bit of an update. The mx5 engine and gearbox are out and separated. I've got CAD files for the back of the KL engine and for the front of the mx5 gearbox, however the starter motor for the automatic is different from the manual MX6  I need to get a manual starter motor before I can fabricate the adapter plate.
In the mean time I painted the rocker covers red. I think they look great :D They're not as orange as in the pics, they're definitely red.

Red rocker covers? That's an easy 25kW right there.

EDIT: Actually, 50kW because there are two!

 Now I just need to paint the calipers for a total of 75kw extra!

I made a plate to replace the distributor. I'll be running wasted spark and semi sequential injection so I only need a crank trigger. To that end I'm modifying the standard 6 tooth trigger wheel into a 36-1 trigger wheel.
Also my lightweight chromoly flywheel arrived a few days ago.

I've finalised the design for the adapter plate, now I just need to find the best place to buy a big chunk of aluminium. Once the adapter plate is done the build will move pretty quickly (I hope)

I've made good progress on the adapter plate over the last couple of days. All the holes are drilled and tapped, I just need to cut out the shape. The plan is to get the engine in the car on Saturday to measure up the engine mounts. I hope once the engine is mounted in the car progress will be much quicker.

Thanks Hayden, great to meet you too. Yes I did make it, just. lol.

I made a bit more progress this morning. Good ol' chain drilling, my favourite fabrication technique. NOT!

Then a hacksaw with a wire blade

and then if you're lucky...

And then...

IT FITS THE ENGINE PERFECTLY!!!!!

I'll put up another update tonight, barring any problems this afternoon with the gearbox-adapter plate fitment I should have the engine bolted up to the gearbox!

IT'S TOGETHER! I'm so relieved it actually went together without too much trouble, that never happens with things I build

Tomorrow is measuring for engine mounts, and many pictures of the engine sitting in the car
