Re: mitch_f1's mariner NA6
Passenger side headlight blew recently, and wanted to go for a H4 semi-sealed beam-type arrangement. After looking around I found this:
Raybrig $100 + bulbs $50
Narva (bulbs included) $120
Hella (bulbs included) $170 Cheapest was here: http://www.sparespro.com.au/product.php ... 117&page=1
So I got the Hella, cause you know, YOLO ;). During the install I also polished the black ring around the headlight. Just a word of advice: don't start cleaning your car; it will never stop

Lighting performance pictures to follow.

New brakes,
DBA T2 rotors, RS Factory Stage pads

Old rotors were slotted...

Also got new "leather" shift boot from project G

And this gem from miata roadster. Feels like a dream, but because of their newfangled lower bushing it was a prick to install

Re: mitch_f1's mariner NA6
is it because of your short arms?

Yup; the stock shifter was just too far away!! That's what happens when you have t-rex arms.

Re: mitch_f1's mariner NA6
New mazdaspeed engine mounts went in. About 20% stiffer, and really only noticable when sitting still; barely noticeable when driving. Was interesting to see the deformity of the old engine mounts, not just that one was cracked. Was a PITA to put them in; took me a while to work out you need to put the bolts in one at a time with heaps of fiddling with the jack in between.

Re: mitch_f1's mariner NA6
Finished uni, so I'm starting to tacklet my huge to-do list for the car. Made further progress on a project I've been working on today.
Firstly though, I am looking at trying to lower cabin temperatures, as the car is like a sauna during summer. I went to Clark Rubber and purchased something to replace the seal between cowel and engine compartment, as I've read this can be a source of heat. Old on right, new on left.

Now, this project. The interior lighting situation is terrible in the NA's. I found a rear view mirror from 90s General Motors cars which have a couple of "map lights" built in. I have been retro fitting this to my car for a while now. I first sourced a mirror from an EK (pretty sure) civic sedan, and then cut and shut it to the MX5 mirror base temporarily with araldite. When I can be bothered/figure a way of securing the two items while curing then I will join and shape the two pieces with JB-weld. Today I wired it up, which I need to do again cause I'm an idiot and I wired it to an accessory power source, so the light only turns on with accessory ignition. But, it works, and that is a good sign.
