Loving your car, great achievement.
And your photos are not only cool, but they give me information on the internal structure of the body panels. This will help me finding holes in the firewall and other panels.
BRILLIANT JOB!

This is some serious piece of work. Looks awesome from an engineering stand point. I was wondering about getting the RX-8 engine into my NC but this clearly shows its not that easy. Especialy considering the full drive train/PPF transplant and mods. Cant wait to see it finished and out kicking ass. Its a shame MAZDA doesnt follow your lead and do it in the factory. I'd have one for sure...
Hi Lab-ratt, yes there is quite a lot more to it than simply bolting the engine in. Anyone who trivialises the conversion by saying that everything from a RX-8 just bolts in, hasn't done the conversion (I'm having a dig at the 'BIG' forum!

Once again, thanks for the support guys (Ghossst, Hammer & Lab-ratt).
Cheers,
Danny

Not a big weekend...but at least I got some quality time on it.

The supercharger kit is getting closer with all the machined components going out for anodising this week. So it won't be long till I bolt it on the engine and ship it out for tuning.

Unfortunately I'm still waiting for the rolled pipe sample and therefore haven't been able to continue with the front section of roll cage.

So today I got stuck into stripping the doors and removing the section of door trim that will encroach on the side intrusion structure of the yet to be complete roll cage. I've made a cardboard template for the section of trim that will be reinstated in aluminium sheet. The door speakers and the door trim's plastic superstructure are now gone.
This is the drivers door...

...and this is the passengers door...

I've decided to upgrade the rear brakes which means I will lose the standard integrated rear handbrake caliper. So to ensure I still have a handbrake I purchased a D2 hydraulic handbrake to replace the standard cable type.

During the week just gone, we reset the front suspension ride height and wheel alignment to a more track orientated setting.

Cheers,
Danny
ps. Thought I'd throw this photo up as I didn't have one taken from this angle posted to date.

ORX, you know our friend Lightyear could probably make you some new door trims in carbon fibre for you?

I dunno Bruce, I think CF is frowned upon in motor sport, due to its tendency to shatter on impact

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Well, there are 3 CF hardtops heading this way for racing...

Looking good, Danny.

Put a kevlar layer in and you will be fine. All v8 supercar parts have to be made with a kevlar layer to prevent shattering I think.
