Looks the goods BB, thanks for taking us all on the trip.
Greg.
P.S. At the risk of sounding like an A******E is the grille a bit limp to the left? Kick me now. :)
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Looking like it's white on twack, BB.

The headlights/grille make for a different look to other NB8Bs.
What's the story with the headlights? Is it a CF-style paint job in the headlights?

todays work area - front left corner

Image

all disc calipers require a tidy up. left front first.

Image

can of 3m caliper paint. clean whole area with grease/wax remover then mask up

Image

then apply 3 to 5 coats

Image

multi-spoke wheel re-painted. first off thorough wipe over with grease/wax remover. .......and i do mean thorough if you want the paint to stay on. followed on a hit with 320 wet dry sandpaper - then clean the whole area again and mask off. prime the surface/both sides. allow a couple of hours to dry then apply top and clear coats

Image

allow a couple of hours to dry and its back on the car

Image

side view

Image

headlight covers.
rub the surface with 320 wet/dry paper. wipe with grease/wax remover then apply the plastic primer

Image

give it an hour to dry then apply top coats

Image

couple of hours later ready to fit to the car. note all the double sided tape contact point. not much room for error here.

Image

on the car

Did you try those headlight covers in black? IMHO, there's too much white and I'd prefer to get rid of the altogether - just my $0.02 worth and food for thought.

Sorry about the spam, user deleted.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

a few months ago i bought the very first begi cai. i've had it on the car a couple of times. the aem shown performs much better but looks cheap.
the begi is definately a factory look type system and more expensive to buy. remember i have nothing against the aem - as i have both systems and neither are for sale.
reason for the swap. rego due shortly and the aem won't pass this guy. i'll see what happens with this factory look-alike and see how it goes on the day.
if not it's back to the standard system for me.

the pulldown

part 1,
the aem set-up
Image

Image

airfilter off then remove the steel guard

Image

like so

Image

undo these bolts -2 per side

Image

remove the water bottle

Image

should be down to this

Image

remove all tubes and loosen the clamp which attaches to the turbo housing and then pull the lot out

Image

like so

Image

this pipes next

Image

once you un-clamp the top section of pipes remove the left hand wheel from the car. remove the plastic liner and this is what your after

Image

closer look -top clamp only

Image

multi grips work best, clamp on and from the top -give it a good pull

Image

once out you have this

Image

last part of the job. torx screwdriver required her

Image

Image

Image

photo of the lot

Image

time taken ..........3 days :o about 40 minutes

next time fitting the begi cai
