Thanks for all the positive support guys! :mrgreen:

This month marks three years since I kicked the project off...how quickly has the time gone....hope I'm over half way?!! :lol:

Got some great piccies this morning of some of the machined components utilised in the supercharger kit. The effort that has been put into the detail is outstanding

. Here's hoping to having the kit by the end of the month!

...and here is the infamous layshaft gear that was machined in Italy.....

The other bit of good news is that the tube sections for the rear part of the roll cage arrived yesterday. I hope to get it welded out this weekend.

It's certainly some of the sexiest naked metal I've ever seen as well Mark.

Progress on the fabrication of the main hoop and rear section of the roll cage was excellent today. I'll let the pictures tell the story...... :mrgreen:

Here are the laser cut members that will form the rear section of the roll cage.

Rear foot plates fully welded out.

Next was the trial fitment of the rear legs and diagonals...they were a perfect fit.

I only trial fitted them as the main hoop members have to be welded out first.

Horizontal member between the bend points in the main hoop.

You've gotta love the accuracy of the laser profiled members.

The upper diagonals fitted.

The lower diagonals fitted.

Hopefully by the end of tomorrow the rear section of the roll cage will be completed and I can move forward with designing the front section.

It certainly looks the goods I have to agree with the laser cut joins, they certainly don't look that good doing them by hand

Thanks Dale. It certainly makes life a lot easier...along as the drawings are correct! :wink:

Bruce, 'welded out' means that the welding of a member/section is fully completed.

The rear section of the roll cage is now complete! :twisted:

Here are the photos of the completed rear section.

Next is to continue on with the design of the front section of the roll cage.

are you going to do those flat sections with holes in them you see on gt3 cup cars and alike?

Hi James, if you're referring to having additional structural connections (plate sections) between the roll cage and the chassis, then yes. This is pretty important for increasing the strength and stiffness of the A-pillar/window frame.
