AD08r in 205 are 8.4inch across the face so I would have thought an 8.5inch rim would be optimum?
I was going to go 8s to minimise any clearance issues, I spoke to the Goodwin guys when I was over there and they said don't bother with 8s for a track car. "9s are faster" seems to be the mantra for the yanks, that and the rim should be at least as wide as the tyre. The 949 guys seem to have a great deal of data under their belts to back this up but who really knows?
225s are a half inch wider than 205s, I'm interested to see if there's any more time in that half inch when I eventually get new rubber.

When I run out of grip on the 205's I'll go to 16" :)

It is hard to judge if the extra width will make you faster if you are not a consistent driver as you can never be sure if it was driver or something else that gave the improvement. All I know is I still have not reached the limit of what I have. When I can consistently achieve 1.2g at all points of a G plot I'll make some changes.

That's it, you can make these small improvements to the car but you still have to go out and find the time in your driving.

I was running very consistent 1:10's at smsp south circuit and in the last two runs I went down to 1:09 and then a 1:08.85. I know the car pretty well now :) have to get out and do more track work though

Your look to be on the right pace on that track. My best time on my only visit there at the end of last year was a 1:08.56.
My car is a NB8a with intake & exhaust improvements running MCA Blue on Avanti Storm S1 15x7 wrapped in 205/50/15 Federal RSRR.
I hope on my next visit I can find some improvement. ;)

My only visit to SMSP South was in May 2015 and managed a 1:13 from memory. Need to find an excuse to visit that layout :)

Looks fantastic
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I blame you for me placing an order for a set of 15x8's from MX5parts.com.au.

I can now do a comparison of AD08R's on 15 x 6.5", 7" and 8" rims.

Yeah right, Lachiewich is a bad influence.

So how many sets of rims in your stable now "wheel whore"? :P

Seriously though, I do love what you've done with this car Lachiewich - every NA/NB that is saved/restored is worth the effort IMO.

Quite a good fit with the wheels. Flat guard roll was needed and also just a slight pull. Going to Road2Race Chassis tuning in a few weeks to get it all setup again and a little more camber in it if Peter thinks it's necessary
