I've seen seatbelts used to stop dampers topping out on VW beach buggies.
I'll see how they go next month, hopefully I won't have to do anything.

I'd like to introduce the latest member of Team Ghettocet Racing.

In keeping with the theme of affordable motorsport it was free. (Thanks Don)

During the many roadside pit stops on the 4hour, 20km trip home my dad and I repaired/cleaned/replaced the entire fuel system.

The 'Cet just fits in the back. Not sure what we will do once the splitter it fitted. I guess reverse it in.

Wife is not impressed with her "Mothers day present".

I'm not even really sure how I feel about this.

Stainless version.

I'm not sure why but I have a lot of trouble doing handbrake turns in an NA6.
Maybe it's the weanie rear brakes, or my weanie arms, or the silly Californian influence handbrake lever location.

No idea if this will help but twice the leverage should mean half the effort.

Going to try to de power the steering rack the FM way in a park tomorrow - ambitious?

Try bending the lever a bit to the left
It's not very strong and it bends easy as
makes it more comfortable to use
Sounds silly but it works

Thanks olboy, noted.

Today we took the Ghettocet to a classic car show, I wish you could buy things with dirty looks because I was given heaps.

Image

Seeing as we were stuck for 7 hours we decided to properly de-power the steering rack. While sane people are lunch and looked at cars we got dirty.

Image

Removed from car, disassembled, cut and bashed of the seal, greased, reassembled and refitted.

To be honest I can't tell the difference from when it just had looped lines but we probably pulled 2kg of lines and brackets and junk from the front of the car so it's still a win.

Did an alignment on the way home as we'd just eyeballed it when we built it.

Should be a lot nicer to drive now.

I was planning on -3 deg front camber and a half deg less castor than we ended up with but the front left maxed out at -1.5 and we would have had to sacrifice some of that to pull the castor back. I was running late for work or I would have pulled the rear camber back to -1.

I might try to make some offset control arm bushes. Is nylon Ok?

The easy answer would be to lower it but it drags its arse driving it on to the truck as it is.

How can it drag it's arse? It doesn't have one!

I reckon the ISC racing offset Delrin bushings are better than the poly ones and not much more. Might be able to get a GB going on them? Gotta be careful with toe settings though as the Delrin ones will bind up as there is no rotational give along their axis.

Edit: btw you can always make them yourself. Just use a bronze insert into solid ally bush or by some delrin and machine them up. I'll take a set!

First Run of the day at the Motorplex Sprint taken with my iPhone.

http://youtu.be/yW-CuUMhl0M

I like this view but the wind noise is a bit much and it's a little distracting.

Have goPro footage of later and faster runs that I'll try to upload soon.

By the end of the day I was about a second a lap ahead of the next fastest in my class and 4/5 seconds behind the guys on R compounds.
