good photo of your car. That section out of there and down to the last chicane section is my favourite part of the track

Cheers mate. I love south circuit! The elevation changes are mad. Could only imagine the power slides out of that corner onto the back straight in your car! :D

Finally got a few hours to spare to finally finish my mounts to fit the Velo milano seats that had been collecting dust.

First impressions are good driving to Wakefield and back comfortably Image

With Presidents picnic coming up this weekend I thought I might give the car but if a tidy up. Started with the engine Bay tonight. Image

Had another day at south circuit last weekend with the club.

I had a small list of things to do beforehand but didn't get around to any of them so didn't expect much. I was gridded up behind steve green in his mx5 cup nb8a it was a great chance to try and learn something if i could keep up. I tried to concentrate on just being consistent and clean for the day rather than overdriving the car which is my normal style
Didn't Crack a pb with my best of the day being 1.05.10 but i feel i did learn alot chasing Steve. He is a super neat driver and i don't think i saw his car out of shape once. Wish i could say the same
Obligatory youtube clip, there's a nice slide around 6 minutes haha

In other news next year looks promising
Image

Heading down to Wakefield tomorrow to finish out the year. Just hope the weather holds out.
Merry xmas guys

Thanks mate. The bumper cut really transforms the look i think. The muffler is a rival unit that came with a few exhaust pieces i bought of here a while back then i had dann piece it together. Its loud and raspy as! I don't drive it often but i always seem to cross paths with the hwp. They never seem to flinch though. :D

Went to Wakefield yesterday with done mate that had hired the track for the day. 180 for an open pit lane and natsoft timing. Why not. Mostly jzx Toyotas and a few others thrown in. My father in law in an nb8a and i really kept them honest, most where pushing 300kws or more. Unfortunately the car cried enough in the arvo in spectacular fashion blowing#4 plug or if the head and through the coilpack. Won't have time to really pick it apart till after new year but hoping it's nothing too serious :frown: a friend of mine took it out for a few laps and went offroading at turn 3 too... Image it became a trailer queen for the 1st time After 2 years of abuse.Image

Autocorrect is killing this thread.

Anyway here is the video when #4 plug wanted out.

Diagnosis was a few bent valves and a nicely hammer finished piston head.
Image

So the head was off to the head reconditioner for a few new valves and a helicoil. Came back all shiny and kinda new. Note the 4 new valves
Image

While the car is apart i thought i would do some forward planning on removing the ac and ps. I'm not 100% on no ps atm so i figure if i remove it and try it now, if i hate it i can revert back when i fit the new engine in a few months. 19kgs worth of junk!Image

I also picked up a defi zd display that i want to try and fit when I'm putting the car back together. It's a pretty cool all in one unit so hopefully it works well.

Reducing caster will help, and I raise the tyre pressures for street driving.

Yeah i have been told that. The car is 85% track orientated these days so I'll leave it at max castor when i get it re aligned and go from there i guess.

The only parking i do in the car is in and out of pit garages haha. Well be interesting with sticky 225s

I'd still reduce caster. I found it quite tiring after I had the car turbocharged...less so when it was NA.

Of course, I'm not much stronger than a 12 year old girl...

Fair enough. I'll see what i can learn from others before then.

Don't discount yourself I'm sure there's some very strong 12yr old girls somewhere

Looks sweet. How did you mount your seats for extra room?

The passenger side is a custom rail that doesn't slide. It's as far back as possible, it Uses the front two mounting points and bolts through the floor at the back.

The drivers side is bit of a mix up of a universal slider and a set of custom rails that mount to the standard mounting points.

The velo milano has a pretty low back compared to other seats which might give an illusion of being low.

Club track day yesterday on south cct. Was a stupidly hot day. I only managed the first session before the car started sweating horsepower all over the front of the engine. I suspect either the intake cam seal or the front seal on the cam gear.

Either way did 1.04.9 :)

It was the first time driving it without power steering. I did the full depower (not looping of the lines). I've never owned a non ps car before so it kinda feels weird on the street. Think hire go karts, lots of bump steer when turning across choppy roads but on the track it felt great! You can feel exactly what the front tyres are doing. I wish i could have got a few more sessions in to really get a feel for it. A worthwhile mod so far

Fwiw i had the front realigned on saturday and castor is at 4.5 degrees
Image

Battery went to poo last week also. so i picked up these
Image

And the current mounting
Image

I scored a few large sheets of that alumabond stuff so I'll make a box/bracket with that to mount it permanently
