We had the best time! My 7yo daughter almost became a Fijian, she had a ball.
Yeah that is where the time improvement was for me last time,,previously was braking too late really and turning in too hot.
Having watched some footage of myself from a mate running behind me was surprised how aggressively I am turning in too! Must have subliminally absorbed Gurans turn in style

To go fast you are braking late and on the gas as soon as you can which is usually before you hit the apex of the corner.
Get rid of the EBC pads and get yourself some Hawk blues.

Thks. All a matter of degree you can certainly brake late in these cars, I just need to do so a smidge earlier. What about Carbotech pads?

I've never tried Carbotech, tried the EBC once and they were terrible, have never had a reason to use anything other than the Hawks.

If you you're looking at Hawks try online. I got a set of HP+ delivered from Amazon for less than half of what it would cost in Aus. If you're going carbotech though Deckspeed are the Australia distributor so they'd be worth a try given you've got the car with them.

The green machine went in to Deckspeed to have the roll cage put in, and at the same time strip weight out of it. Collected it on Friday 22nd March, ahead of a track day with Track Day Club on the Saturday. All carpet now gone, heater and associated plumbing – a massive mound of plastic and carpet on the floor of the workshop.
The dash went back in, as did the drivetrain console, so all nice and neat. Finally got a decent steering wheel too, got a 330mm flat dish RPM. As usual with these kind of changes, felt a little strange at first, but after the first turn it is forgotten – and now the reduced gearing of the wheel feels perfect.

Saturday 23rd March 2013 drove the green machine down early to Wakefield for the Track Day Club day. Was prepared for the discomfort – wore shorts, thongs and a tee, and had the windows open all the way. With no fan – let alone ducting for vents – it is pretty warm in there now.
They ran a great day actually. We were organized into 4 groups. A decent safety briefing, and home made choc brownies and muffins on tap! Nice!
It was one of those days - sometimes it feels like the ‘2 steps forwards, 1 back’ principle works. You improve your times in a jump, and then next time round, stagnate. Didn’t get any lower lap times.
But I did get Jeff Denmeade – 2012 Pikes Peak champ (google it – yikes!) – to sit in the car for a couple of sessions, which was great. He was available all day for instruction as part of the deal. I had to get Deckspeed to lend me a passenger seat (I have kept the inertia reels for just this), pretty valuable time and a decent guy.
Showed him a few cross-country lines he probably hadn’t seen before as I tried to take his advice on board.
Also had a little altercation – my first on a track – with an absolute tool, in a Cobra replica. He had buckets of power on tap, and drove like my nanna through the corners. I was lapping 5-6 seconds quicker than him and he was blocking like we were racing. When we were in fact not, and in fact not even competing. It was in fact supposed to be a casual drive day. He had been blocking a number of cars in every session.
So said Tool lost it on the rh’er coming down off the hill. It is entirely possible my ‘pressuring’ him made him push harder than he should have. He speared right so I headed left to stay clear – then he ricocheted left, so we both took a wee stroll through the grass, where I kissed him in the left rear.
And I hope I bloody well did a lot of damage to his fiberglass panels too. The green machine lost a bit of paint and was scratched through the plastic but was just cosmetic. I came in immediately to double check.
Mr Tool disappeared, went home presumably. Clearly knew he was in the wrong and thought he might get chewed out.
Here is where the green machine lost bark across the front bumper.

Monday March 25th
Left the car at Deckspeed for the week for some more lovin’. They fabricated an intake, installed RB headers and a new exhaust. And a Haltech ecu. Only registered 82 rwkw on their dyno, but Friday was a stinking hot, extremely humid day, and…if optimistic dyno’s are ‘happy’, they are finding their dyno is perhaps a little ‘sad’.
Also had Carbotech pads put on, and more neg camber dialed in all round.
I had a mate drop me down at their workshop and collected it midday Thursday ahead of Easter weekend.
Driving it home…..wow! the noise! Having had the green machine now for 9 months – in a state when you could almost not hear it coming down the main straight at Wakefield it was so quiet – this thing was awesome!!
Especially in the cabin with all insulation having been stripped out. I drove very conservatively so as to not offend the Constablury. Wasn’t sure how much more power it had but it had certainly returned with a fatter curve higher up.

Beautiful fabrication job too. Ok – so it LOOKS and SOUNDS amazing – how does it go?

When I got the RB headers and a tune I got noticably more midrange pull on my car. Really helps on corners that are hovering between a good gear. For reference my car actually dyno'd above the expected values on the Deckspeed dyno. 30kw too high for a car with a stock head/cams and GT25/60R only holding boost to 6500rpm.
