Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Havent done much on my own car, been busy working on other stuff. Started work on my brothers new manifold, built a couple of low angle 4-1 merge collectors, will start on the rest within the next week just waiting on some parts.
Collector shot
As you know slimx purchased my brothers old setup - Top mount ram horn mani, hi flow turbo, 3" turbo back exhaust/intake. We wern't sure of the interchangeability of some of the parts but after looking under his bonnet I knew that it needed a good massage to make it all fit and I advised him of this. Anyways he asked me to do the install for him.
Ordered all the oil/water feed/drain stuff. Used steel fittings for oil sender location to tee off, 3AN oild feed and 5/8 Drain. Drilled tapped sump while everything was on the car, worked out fine.
Some new fluids
Modified the power steer hard line so it points away from the manifold, re routed the hose.
Next modified the mixing manifold, removed the hard line, chopped that section flat and welded closed. Flipped it and welded another fitting for the heater hose return to keep the oem configuration with routing.
Mounted the turbo/mani/dump
Started the charge pipes, all done in stainless and purged where needed.
Lower fitment, routed up through an OEM hole...
New pivot style clamps and silicone hoses throughout
Throttle pipe with BOV fitting and IAT fitting
Mounted up
Made the egr Block off plates from 5mm alu.
Got Slim a new Platinum sport 1000 ecu thanks to Steve
This is it finished up with new SKreem Intake and a tidy up.
Dyno tuned @ 10psi and made 182.9rwkw @ 6300rpm cut-off due to an aftermarket rev limiter that they couldnt disable on the day. It has since been rectified and will be hitting the dyno again soon for a 7500rpm pull with some further fine tuning. I think i need to get some vvteez happening with my next motor.

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Been a while since ive posted, just a few updates
Finished off a top mount long runner offset turbo position manifold, low angle merger with 38mm Turbosmart external gate. Started on the DP and made a flange for a bigger throttle body. Hoping to get this thing on the dyno soon. Just need to weld some bracing onto where the external wastegate pipe meets the manifold and it should be good for some abuse.
Im will start planning an inlet manifold build soon as well, just doing some research on plenum volume, runner length etc if anyones got any good links, please share
4-1 low angle merger
Collector shot
First got the turbo in the position I wanted, then tacked the flanges in place
Started piecing it all together, got a bit tricky as you need to weld it all in the correct sequence otherwise you will shoot yourself in the foot and have to break it down ask me how i know lol
Quick sandblast then cut the hole for the wategate
welded the wastegate pipe/flange
All done and test fitted, its tight but no interferance
Will upload pics of DP later

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Thanks PaulF,
The cooler piping will be over the radiator as previous, undecided as to whether I will blend the wategate back into the dump pipe or just run a screamer pipe and scare padestrians when the wastegate cracks open lol.
Some pics of the DP and Throttle Flange, have only put the first bend on the dp, will update as I go along.
Welded wastegate hole,
Welded in a divider for straighter path
Throttle Flange to be welded onto new manifold, just needs to be drilled/tapped.

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Hey mate a thread came up recently about Slims car for sale. I guess your imput would have helped since we were all sceptical (no offence) of who put his kit together.
It looks like it turned out alright, 188rwkw is impressive! Did he touch internals?
I'll also pm you!

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Hey hayden, didnt even know the car was for sale. Where is the thread?
I just did a search on carsales and saw the ad.
Just a quick run down, I pretty much transferred the turbo gear off an NA to his car. Manifold was from a mob in the states, its got a tag on it but cant remember what brand it was, exhaust was made by castle hill exhaust, I just modified it to fit slims car. It wasnt exactly a drop in turbo setup as I had to modify a few things to make it all work and it was a very tight fit. The mixing manifold was modified, PS hard line was re positioned, and one of the a/c lines needed to be re-made as it would have interfered with the manifold. Not sure if slim got round to doing this, but he was aware of what needed to be done prior to install. Installed 550cc rx-7 injectors, the turbo is a Hypergear ATRG2 with .64 rear had very low k's. Really don't know about the power figures on the advert, when I installed the gear the car was internally stock, so im unsure if he's since had the internals done but it was tuned to just a tad above 183kw with the rev limiter kicking in. (posted above).

Love your fabrication skills.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Sweet, you can show me how well your car does skids Charlie lol
Exhaust components arrived:
Magnaflow Muffler, resonator and 200cpsi metal core cat. Will be a full stainless system. Was comtemplating doing a thick walled Ally cat back but think i will experiment with that on a dedicated track car, not sure how Ally would resonate for street applications. Is anyone here running an ally cat back or know of anyone who does? Stupid idea?

Nice looking exhaust kit there Rxmx, have you got more deets on the parts (part numbers, stockists etc) as I'll be needing an exhaust for my td05 conversion soon too.

Hey MxCase,
I picked up all the items off ebay after shopping around it was the most viable. You can save a few bucks if you go for satin stainless as apposed to polished also. I went for a mid sized rear muffler, you could go bigger if you wanted to.
Both Aussie sellers, Muffler and resonator from seller engine master, I would have got the cat off him too but he didnt have a 3" in stock. He does combined shipping
P/N: 14329 & 14419
http://stores.ebay.com.au/Engine-Master-Australia/_i.html?_nkw=magnaflow&submit=Search&_sid=28924751
Cat from Tuffcarparts

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Been pretty busy since my last update.
Finished off that manifold, braced it and coated it
Also Had a slight change of plans with the car, was initially going to get it running with an s15 turbo have some fun in it then move to bigger turbo, ended up going with the big turbo save the hassals later. So new dump pipe for 60mm turbine and full exhaust with V-bands. PITA working on the floor.
Dump pipe done
Screamer
Mocked up the rest of zorst, tucked up high with solid hangers so no movement
Mid pipe
Car has a dual exit rear so needed divider, required some massaging
As straight through as you can get
Diff back, Tips both dump out nicely, forgot to take a pic of it from the rear, will upload laters
Go-fast bits started showing up, Id1000's
GTX3071R
Twin disc
Current state of affairs in the bay, will be adding cops soon, clutch install to commence this week then dyno. Yes car is still on stock bottom, its a gtx bp bottom end still with weaksauce rods but well see how they cope. Plan is to build a bproof bottom end when/if it does sh*t itself, will tune for 1 bar boost have some fun then crank it up and make some serious power when its built.
Had a guy come and see some of the work i was doing and he was keen on a wakeboard tower for his boat. Built it out of 316 marine grade stainless and saved him some dosh. Quite happy with the way it turned out.
Went for a test drive, Heres a small vid of the gtx3071 spooling to like 6psi lol, thing whistles like crazy on very light throttle, sounds a bit like a BW turbo. No WOT yet as I dont have a wideband in the car. Can't wait to get this thing tuned

Does that Cusco cage have a fixed part at the back like a BD bar and removable roof rails connecting to a separate front section?
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)
