Indeed i am.

As i get used to the car more and more everyday (bear in mind this is my first manual car) it becomes an even better drive.

It's tempting to simply add nice wheels and lower the thing but im shying away from that for now till i sort out all the niggly little things first like radiator, hoses and just general maintenance issues etc etc. Being a daily driver, and having experienced how unreliable cars can be, i know now to sort out the important things first.

Also nothing wrong with knowing a car back to front from pulling it apart all the time

I need a proper floor jack. Current supercheap auto one works but isn't low enough to get under the front jacking position (the under tray is in the way and it gets caught) and it also wont raise high enough...for my liking anyway. My garage is quite small so i savour as much room and working space as i can get.

If only i was a costco member. That low profile one they have looks sweet.

Anyway.

Quickly had some time to fit the fuel filter yesterday.

Took off the plastic cover and found everything was ok, the bracket wasn't rusted or anything which is good.

No that spring clamp wasn't like that when i found it, i moved that before i took the photo.

I used the 1/4" ratchet extensions in my tool set to plug the fuel lines when i was working my way around there.

The Cooper filter was a fraction too small for the oem bracket so i had to cut a slice of radiator hose and use it as some added meat to help clamp it down.

Image

You can see the bit of rubber hose under the clamp.

Image

The oem 6mm bolt was also too short so luckily i had a longer one laying around.

This morning i dumped the old valvoline oil out and put some fresh penrite stuff in there.

Seems good so far, no lifter ticking whatsoever. Only time will tell i guess. If this oil ends up holding fine till the next scheduled service. I will definitely be sticking with it.

Haha they are on the car already (using my new cordless 1/2" impact i just purchased....pitstop).

Bit pointless though cause the car aint lowered yet. Shocks/springs are all worn at this stage so the front actually sits at a surprisingly nice height. The rears are abit depressing though, but i cant drop it till

a) I roll the guards, nothing serious, just a basic roll.

b) I track down some cheap coilovers or save up to get some installed. Springs are good and all but i think i would much prefer the ability to adjust ride height/damping.

I had a go at removing and putting back in the rear left shock last week. Yeah nah definitely not doing that again

Loving this thread, so many great step by step photos.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Too late, i bought mum a membership (so that i could take advantage of the bonus household card) and have purchased one of the jacks not long ago. Far out is it an amazing piece of gear for $164.

To all na owners looking to pick up a jack from costco with their partner in the passenger. Remove your spare tyre before you head off otherwise it wont fit in the boot. I found that out the hard way

Am i near Moorebank? Sortakinda, something i should know? :)

Thanks mate, appreciate it.

I've been having a hard time trying to finding time to do anything to the car lately, got a new job recently so i've been working hard. Once uni kicks back in and my roster eases off abit i'll have some more time to get stuck into the car doing some things i've been meaning to do (i've got some dynamat leftover to use so that should be a fun task).

On another note. I've been refraining extremely hard and trying to keep myself away from purchasing yellowspeed coilovers...everyday i stare at the wheel gap on the rear makes me wanna drive to mania...

Must.

Resist.

Yellowspeed rears don't drop that much, so if your after lower get a set of HSD coilovers from Otomoto in Parramatta.

Interesting point you bring up.

You've made me rethink it all now. From my readings and research i was thinking that the yellowspeeds would have been ok for me. I mean, i want to go low, but not THAT low.

Do you think that the yellowspeeds wont allow me to drop much lower with the equips?

The HSD's are also abit more expensive so im taking that into consideration as well.

Wow, lots to re-think about as i was pretty certain the yellowspeeds would have been the ones to go with if i was going coilovers.
