Sorry but no :) My car has a soft top not a hard top. The car third from the top on the far left has a green roof.

How's the car maintenance/restoration program going? Any interesting bits you think you want to replace or make look better?

Thanks, from a prospective buyer of a similar 96 car.

Hi, if you have read from the beginning of this thread it details every thing I have done so far. The car is now just like I want it and I love it to bits. Additional things I might do after the 200k service include eventually tyres and then a heated glass rear window and maybe some aluminium trim rings around the vents and some scuffplates and a garage vary front lower lip and a front lower grille. Oh and maybe a CAI and slightly freer flowing exhaust.

Today something unexpected, a colleague gave me his unwanted Taigo exhaust tip that he used to have on a Triumph. It is a huge monster. For a laugh I put it on my car :)

To be honest, even though it is not my thing it does not look too bad.

Image

Firstly it is fairly low down and fairly discreet, like a conservatively dressed woman flashing a bit of skin.

Secondly where it ends is completely under the car so it does not look like a massive tip on a tiny exhaust.

Image

Predictably my teenage son thinks its cool :)

It does touch the bumper skin and am wondering if I can do some damage keeping it on a few weeks.

re: the exhaust tip.

shouldn't do any damage, because it's a slip on (well, looks to be) it shouldn't heat up too much.

my exhaust has a huge tip that sits rather close to the bumper cutout and hasn't melted/charred anything.

I am so envious. Every time I see a pristine "stock" NA...I want one :(

...but since I bought an NB, I'll mod it (albeit slowly)!

The tip looks pretty good to me. Nothing ridiculously big, just nice and shiny.

Contrary to my standard policy on such additions, that tail pipe finisher doesn't look half bad!

Seeing that winter is here I have been playing around with a wind deflector. I have two on at the moment and am trying to work out if I need both. It will help me understand where the breeze is coming from. Anyway the one with the curve I made myself and the other one I got from a fellow forum member. They are held on to the rollbar with velcro straps.

As you can see the taller one still clears the roof very easily.

Looks like you're having a lot of fun tinkering with the car =)

Re the exhaust tip, you should be find on the street... That being said below is what happened to my exhaust tip after a track day at Winton. It melted the bumper bar and the plastic stuck to the exhaust tip... Excuse the terrible photo...
