Im getting used to the exhaust now i think, its not as loud as I thought from the outside. and it has changed the performance quite a lot, it feels snappy and torquey now, as well as happier to rev out to the limiter, (feels like its peaking around 6800 - 7000)

Also makes angry race car like burbles when backing off, i like it!
All in all its made it a bit more of a silly car, and perhaps less nice to commute in, but the noise does make both me and the missus giggle like small girls

a bit less restrictive intake & exhaust certainly gives them some character :D

Yes! Regardless of how fast it actually is it has character

the butt dyno says its about 110kw now though methinks. (intake/exh/timing)

"110kw" (flywheel)

there's seems to be a bit of difference in rear wheel figures between some NA8s (beyond different dynos), but yours has a fairly fresh engine from memory so you'd at least be maximising it.

Oh, yeah, i always think in flywheel KW  , that would be highly optimistic at the wheels!

And yes, I think its about 15k-km on the motor since rebuild, but Fuzzlet could confirm that, so it should be fairly close to its 98kw stock

Its always hard to tell how much power you actually have, but it feels much more eager, and climbs hills & overtakes much better so what ever gain it is its a good thing (never met a KW I Didn't like?)

yea the engine had around 15k kms on it when I sold the car. With this exhaust + mania intake, it made around 8rwkw more than a stock 1.8.....If the exhaust is a bit too loud for you, a turbo would certainly make it quieter

Got bored tonight and plugged in the wolf3d, managed to make it talk to a laptop eventuatly and chucked the default wolf MX5 tune on it.

It will start, but runs like crap and stalls after a few seconds, but hey its a start, doesn't seem to recognize the TPS though, dunno what thats about..

Anyway gonna plug the stock ECU back in again, but was fun to fiddle with :P

P.S Gawd the stock ECU is hard to find!

yea they dont like running on the initial tune, hence why its a base tune :P Thats weird that the TPS wouldnt work, although I think we fitted a wolf one to the previous engine....

Yeah, Id expect it to run pretty rough, but i reckon if it saw the TPS it would not stall.

Seems to see it as either shut or WOT, depending if you invert it, also does the wolf use the MAF, or does it need to use its onboard MAP?

Anyway, Mania will make it work for me

Played with a G-Tech too, claims my '5 has 51kw, and my lancer (dynoed @ 77kw) has 75kw... that sounds like a lie to me, I dont think the mx5 has 51kw atw

not sure if the Wolf has to use it's built-in MAP, but that's what usually is used to delete the MAF - I guess using the MAF in your testing could be causing the TPS problem. As you say MX5 Mania will sort it - should go very nicely with the intake & exhaust.

Yes the wolf HAS to use its onboard MAP sensor. If you ran a line of vacuum tube to it then it wouldnt of stalled as much lol. It will still need the AFM plugged in, unless you wire in an air temp sensor - talk to mania about it when they tune it for you

Thanks Fuzzlet,

Any idea where the prefered spot to tap the vac fitting is? (I would guess anywhere between the throttle and the AFM would do?)

I would like to save a little money (and pride ) by installing the ECU and vac fittings etc. myself.

Other little mod, part of my Wun-ish obsession with insulating the intake air from heat soak, is wrapping my entire CAI and intake piping in this funky insulation tape, will show photos soon, its very blingy/ghetto/nasa, and stops it from pinging after sitting in traffic on 44C days!
