After quite a long weekend I've finally the new engine back in and all fired up.

Goes well, surprisingly the Exedy race clutch is light and not at all grabby compared to other clutches I've had in the past. The lightweight flywheel also appears to be a good fit and makes the car much more responsive. Had to chase an oil leak from the remote oil filter fitting but apart from that was fairly stress free.

Took it for a quick blat yesterday and I'm very happy with the end result!

What I am happy about is the discovery of what turns out to be a
full Loch Stewart exhaust system including extractors on the car. (was like these don't look like standard Mazda fare... )

we're back in business,

The car had run out of rego in the past month so arranged a pink slip yesterday, just need to go over the engine and tighten everything up now . The new engine runs like a dream, and is quiet as, so looks like its a good one.

Good to have it back on the road again!

why yours run out of rego too?? (man, got a roadworthy off the weirdest guy ever, so busy telling me about how I should be modding the car with he forgot to check all the lights etc...).

yeh, swapped it all over myself, put in all the new seals, flywheel, clutch, waterpump, timing belt etc..... Makes you remember why you didn't want to be a mechanic.

oh, I've ordered a beatrush undertray too.... :D

Just a few questions:

I see you have a Zoom Engineering Mirror, I'm looking at getting their CF side mirrors and a few other parts. I assume you got them from their site. Are they easy to deal with?

And also how much was freight for the 6UL's from 949racing?

Just one question, im considering a light weight flywheel for my NB8B, worth it?

Cheers

Haven't dríven the 5 a lot at this point and after a month of not using it its difficult to remember how it was. The car does seem a bit more responsive and is definately easier to rev which is good. Will be interesting to see what goes at the track.

So far in traffic I can't tell the difference, the yanks carry on about the 4kg versions being too light and causing idle hunting etc... I can see none of that and reckon they have their hand on it yet again.

I'd put one in if you were doing a clutch change, wouldn't bother otherwise.

This is good, tidied up under the car rather nicely and is easier to remove than the plastic oem part, weights similar too.

Sasso why would this interfere with an intercoler setup? most of those seem to fit in the radiator mouth area. No, been slack haven't done the bias valve yet

I agree.

With those 8's and that camber, it really looks muscly. Is there any rubbing when hitting bumps?

BTW, where did you get your front lip spoiler? I've been after one for a while now, no one locally seem to have stock.
