Re: Boyracer D1-R
So it's time for a bit of an update...running as a 2A car was always going to limit where and when I could race it...so it's time for a bit of a change...the turbo engine is heading north and in will be going a pretty hotted up NB8A engine...CAMS, Carillo rods and Supatec pistons are on order...this could be interesting.

CT's old car was an NA screamer, he might have a few secrets to share.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: Boyracer D1-R
Block has been machined and parts are organised, head still has to go to get done, buying the 10AE road car has sorta used up some of my play money so it's turned in to a bit of a long term project.

I am interested in getting some of those bonnet vents. Are they the Escort Cosworth fibreglass ones?

Re: Boyracer D1-R
We have had a bit of progress with the new engine...Carrillo rods and Supertech forgies, I've assembled the bottom end and now have the head and cams so hopefully it should be built in the next few weeks.

Re: Boyracer D1-R
what sort of power are you looking to get out of this thing?
I dont care that my laces aren't fat or that I'm not even close to flush and I certainly don't want to be the illest!

Re: Boyracer D1-R
I'm guessing about 140rwkw...will see when its together, I have 2 weeks off and all the bits so hopefully will be together soon...the car is very light so it's going to be pretty quick.
I'm also fitting a NB front sub frame and steering rack, and the LSD is coming out and a spool is going in.
Will have a few photos up next week.
Once again thanks to MX5mania for their help with the car.

Re: Boyracer D1-R
I bought everything from Mania, prefer to know that I'm getting all the right bits and have the support close by.
Finally getting the engine together, the bottom end is a late model 1.8, they have a bit more strength than the earlier models.

Re: Boyracer D1-R
Fitted the NB8A head and engine is in...head has been shaved and ported, inlet port matched and Tighe cams fitted, ARP stud kit and racing head gasket, Maxim Works extractors, have been sorting wiring and plumbing before I fit the inlet manifold.
I probably should have been adding up the hours I have spent and the cost but it's all a bit scary...this is very expensive.

This makes no sense. With 153kw and 500nm of torque you be making peak power at 2922 rpm.
So your making the 30psi of boost necessary t make 500nm at less than 3000?
And why are your rods ok at 500nm but no one elses make it past 200?
Sorry I just dont follow how this is possible.
