Magpie wrote:Yep on their hub dyno. From my understanding the 160 hp was with the cams set at zero deg, with a very safe tune. Another bit of good news is the idle. In addition, the EGT's are also helping and providing very good data for the tuners, however they probably would have also wanted an AFR with each EGT as well (like Danny's build).

Jason will spend the weekend running it in (as well as collecting data via the data logger) and then it is back on the dyno Monday for some more tuning.

That's pretty good news! Bet you can't wait till Wednesday.

Plohl you have no idea :). I'm waiting at the airport to catch a plane home. It has had a wheel alignment this morning and should be back on the dyno. I have to stop ringing Jason for updates, however the feedback he has given me is that is the engine is making people smile and it is exceeding expectations.

I'll catch up with Danny and Jason when I pick it up and find out what torque it is making. It will have to go back for more tuning after Thursday, however I will collect some actual data at QR and pass this on to the tuners so they can see how it is running.

Again thanks for the interest :)

What a blast, all it wants to do is rev! The tacho is not working so I just have the shift light and from 4,500 to 7,000 is unbelievable! In 3rd gear from 10 to 98 kmh 6.72 secs. EGT 334 deg to 598 at the same time.

It will get a few sessions at QR tomorrow (I have instructions from MX5 Plus and GT Auto on how to behave with the new motor). The cabin is very noisy now and whilst the radio does not have power (another issue) you could not really hear it anyway.

No power steering makes it a bit harder at lower speeds but the jury is still out. It still has some more work needed but it can only get better!

Jason has put some long hours into this car lately so it will be ready for the track and it is very much appreciated.

I will post some more feedback tomorrow after the track. This is going to be fun, I think I will get a PB even with the car's current limitations.

It just has a safe tune for the track, the final tune will done after the track so no data yet.

-3.0 camber front and -2.6 rear. Total toe zero front/rear.

Still would be interesting to see the curves! Haha

How much caster are you running? I found although it made the steering a little heavier, it feels so much better to drive. You can have a go in my car to compare the manual to ps racks at some point.

Well, the car lasted the day! Depowered steering is worth it, however the car takes a bit more effort to keep it pointed in the right direction.

It is back to Plus tomorrow for the balance of the work to be done, plus I have to go back to work. We still need to get the tacho working as this also feeds in the Vbox so the videos has RPM. The data from the Innovate will be passed on to Plus and GT Auto so they can see what the car is doing. However the oil/water temp sensors need to be calibrated as they were showing oil getting up to 120 deg c and this does not appear to be correct.

Also I have to say that the R888 are no where near as good as the Dunlop Direzza G03, a shame I did not put the Federal RSR's on and got a feel for all 3. The Dunlop Direzza G03 gave so much more confidence at higher corner speeds than the R888's.

Roger, you can see it again at MX5 Plus, at least till about 19/12/13.

MX5 Plus is going to finish off the little jobs that did not get done before the track day as well as getting another tune done. The Accusump still needs to be plumbed in, however it maybe relocated from the boot to where the air con condenser was as there is room there now.

Only change being considered is changing the dash to someting like the Motec/Stack/Dash 2/AIM/Haltech, however not a logging/GPS version as I already have these features. However this will come down to dollars in the end.

Plan is to close this thread on 31/12/13 and start a new one. Between now and then I have to build another splitter as well as fix up the front wind deflectors and some other small jobs.

Thanks for reading and the comments/feedback :)
