Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
well i thought about the wheels and I decided NO! waste of money I think I will invest the cash in a good pair of birds with the option to a least double or triple my money or lose the lot
so here's what I plan to do and invest another $100 into the project.
1. the wheels in the helllrot
2. red side stripe ordered from the usa
3. underside pinch weld stripe in red
4 mirrors in red
5.total windscreen surround in red
6 windscreen scuttle red with wiper arms red -keep the wipers black
7 bottom rear area at exhaust now black/pending red
8 rear wing red
9 reflector front/rear maybe back in and white
10 part of front bar red
that could change it's appearance some what....

My $0.02 (I think I'm up to $0.06 so far):
* Red side stripe (red wheels alone on a white car are "too stand-out" - the red stripe will balance it out better)
* Black underside pinch weld (red would look odd IMO and you'll see any deformities which the black hides really well)
* clear reflectors
* everything else "as is"

I thought a dark grey worked well with the black and white you had going.
The red wheels is way too much for me and red windscreen surround just seems a bit odd and may look like you painted a red car white and haven't finished the job yet.
My local taxi company has red and white cars and that's what I think of when I try and picture your planned red bits.
I'm crossing my fingers for you that it won't look as bad as I picture.

best wheels on a P2 are standard. You can spend a lot of money on wheels which don't really do anything for day to day to performance. The latest ugly trend is low rent black wheels- reminds me of all the black wheels fitted on British and often Aust cars after WW2. I would not be adding red highlights on an NB but its not my car. I must confess to silver highlights on my interior to alleviate the standard drab black but the later stock ones but Mazda did that anyway. I would never change the amber reflectors either- they are legal and clear is not legal fitted on the side .

Holy Effing Dooley!!! I think I agree with Lockiel. The right amount of red will look great. Too much would, in Bruce’s words, be a clown car. The Red windscreen surround, IMO would be a big mistake. But with your colour changing habits Billy, Just f%#}en go for it!!

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
I don't want to exert myself so one wheel a day plus I had to go for a ride on the bike too
now I really hate painting wheels so I did a wheel speed paint and that includes both sides too so it probably took about 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for the clean up. not for everyone as it involved the clean up but it worked alright
now once back on the car the red is balancing out nicely. plus you have to remember to this German Hellrot is a pretty good red colour too
I ordered my side stripe from the USA for $70AU posted. that includes both sides too

I agree with Gladiator... with your skills, Billy, there’s nothing much to lose other than a bit of time. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

That's a great price for the side stripes.
I'm guessing that you're getting your custom lettering.
Can you put up the link for the mob that you're using?
