Ok about time for an update ..

So I bought a 2nd set of track wheels so do a few laps without wearing my competition tyres

Been finding the harder i'm pushing on the track and our longer club motorsport courses the brakes are getting hot and need to be bled before each event.

Also ordered a CarbonMiata boot during the Black Friday Sales, arrived in Jan.

Was keen to put it on ..

There had been a thread on ClubRoadster about the fitment, seems it's improved a lot but still not perfect.

Sits up a bit near the Frankenstein bolt

The rear end sits higher than my standard boot, I tried adjusting the boot lock but this is as low as it got

The light holes were really disappointing, all that effort to make a sexy boot and someone has put in bugger all effort to get these right. Lucky it's an easy fix.

Also the tail light hole isn't even close to the factory shape.

There was no way to attach the rear brake light so I bought some double sized tape

Later I had a light bulb moment when my sons NA6 was parked next to the SE, looks like they've cut the hole to suit an NA rear tail light.

I think they would have been better off to get some aluminium laser cut to suit the licence plate lights and bent with some rivnuts to mount the 3rd brakelight and glued that inside the CF.

I ended buying a plane ticket and flying to Melbourne to attend the FanFest.

Was great to catch up with so many forum members and put faces to names.

Mad Mike is such a nice genuine guy and a great ambassador for Mazda

Last week I found time to install my brake ducts, some new rotors and brake lines.

A quick Bunnings trip for a 29mm socket to remove the front wheel nut

I had to bend the ducts away from the rotor a bit.

Top tip, thanks to Roadrunner, swap the ABS sensors left to right and swap the clamps across.

I bled the brakes but was disappointed with the result, searched for a different colour brake fluid and found Bendix make a blue fluid so picked some up from Bursons.

Helped with an AFARCC night on Tuesda, i've elongated the lock bolt holes to pull the CF boot down a little lower.

Clutch is starting to slip, need to check out the slave or look at upgrading the clutch. I have a "sports tuff" clutch from the red NB that might be suitable.

Do you not use the Frankenstein bolts to secure the CF hardtop or is there some bracket wizardry underneath?
I'm thinking from a sealing point of view.

The CM CF top design is pretty rudimentary, just a hole the bolt fits through and a slot to lock it in place. At some stage I might find a way to bolt it down, I don't have much faith in the current setup.

No timing just helping out for AFARCC and sneaking a few laps in. Think i'm doing 73s so there's plenty of room to improve, more horses would help too.
