Hey Danny,
I reckon you should leave them on and stick another one for each car that you beat that has more horsepower at a race ...

Sorry been re-watching all my old Initial D DVDs ...

But why when they are fully hektik bro?![]()
It's looking good! Even with the stickers.
It's got the fully hektik rubber on it now too!!!
It was time to look at what scope of work is required to get the tyre/wheel combo to work on an NC. Even without bolting them on I know that major panel work will be necessary.....especially on the rear. The front guards should just need their lips rolled.
I'm running Enkei RPF01's in 18 x 8.5 - 40P on the front and in 18 x 10.5 - 15P on the rear. These are shod with Toyo R888 in 225/40 R18 and 285/30 R18 respectively.

Don't be shocked by the below photos

As expected the front will be fine with just having the lip rolled....the rear is a different story hehehe.....

I also removed the standard brake caliper and rotor so that I can finish designing the 8-piston Brembo conversion.

The revised main hoop design for the roll cage will be bent up this week

Cheers,
Danny

I find this pic quite interesting the way the chassis seems to follow the engine line, perhaps a hint for something to come?
I have looked over the whole thread and can't seem to find if the Renesis motor simply bolted in or not? Can you give a run-down if it 'simply' bolted in or not and was the wiring loom plug and play? Did the power steering and A/C (if installed) connect easily?

If I told you I would have to kill you

Seriously, I haven't provided a run down of exactly how I've gone about the conversion and won't answer questions specific to the conversion for a couple of reasons.....
(1) I haven't completed the project and therefore the conversion as a completed entity is not tried and proven.
(2) I have personally invested a hell of a lot of time and a reasonable amount of money into the project and I'm not about to give it away for nicks. The conversion process and the parts that I have designed and developed are my intellectual property.
I'm sorry if it sounds a bit selfish, but this project is it important to one of my business divisions. I hope that you can understand where I'm coming from.
Cheers,
Danny

A bit of solid progress was made this week with the design of the caliper brackets for the fitment of the 8-piston Brembos being completed. I hope to have them machined in the next 2-3 weeks. As usual, here are a few views from the solidworks model. The revised main hoop for the rollcage is ready to be installed when I get a chance.

Cheers,
Danny

Danny, if you get spare time can you design up an adaptor to fit RX-7 4 pots to an NA/NB MX-5 and top hats to suit, if they fit a DBA rotor and will fit inside the stock 15" rims you'll make a fortune.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Lee actually had S6 RX-7 brakes fitted to his NA6 which came from a Jap half-cut. He may still even have these laying around in his shed

Anyone can make brackets up to fit the RX7 brakes on a MX5. The trick is to clear the factory wheel spokes.mr_rotary wrote:Okibi wrote:Danny, if you get spare time can you design up an adaptor to fit RX-7 4 pots to an NA/NB MX-5 and top hats to suit, if they fit a DBA rotor and will fit inside the stock 15" rims you'll make a fortune.

I seem to remember Lee had a whole hub assembly from an RX7 with rotor and caliper he was going to try and fit.
Terry has also fitted rx7 brakes but he had to use non standard wheels.

Dave and Les, I think I might have mentioned it a bit earlier in this thread that another forumite local to me was working on this....but it appears that other projects are occupying his time. It is a conversion that I am interested in as I have a few pairs of the Series 4/5 RX-7 calipers (I use them on my 626). I'll grab front end bits from Richard when I next get a chance and start looking into it for my own peace of mind. My understanding is that (as Les has said) the main problem is getting a kit to meet everyones requirements (ie. work with factory wheels etc...).
Cheers,
Danny
