Okibi's SE

Apart from club Motorsport I haven't really done anything to the SE.

I dream of a built motor and decent turbo kit, occasionally of a big brake kit or newer shocks but the SE has been pretty faultless and consistent.

The stock wheels had "gemstone" tyres, they had heaps of tread and bugger all grip, especially in the wet.

I gave up waiting for them to wear down and with the 4 for the price of 3 deal replaced them with some AD08Rs, they don't do a 205/40/17 so I got 215/40/17s.

Let us know how they ride, Okibi. I didn't know AD08Rs were available in that size, I think it's a good size for the stock 17s, and short of finding myself some 15x8/9s I think they might be a good options next time I need new rubber.

Hey Okibi,

Any drawbacks with running 215s?

So far they seem to grip but still only running them in.

No drawbacks, i've got a bit of camber and rolled my guards but think they'd still fit on a stocker no problems.

I put a request on the big forum many years ago. Had 2 offers; one guy would only let me pay postage costs and another didn't let me pay a cent.

Sand off the raised lettering on the OEM reflector and use Duplicolor Metalcast red. Transparent paint that comes out very glossy. I put a clear coat over mine and buffed them back.

Thanks to And1's advice I picked up another set of wheels for the track. They're a little heavy but will help me get some seat time.

I've been pretty happy with the HAWK HP+ but i'm finding the longer events my brakes are getting pretty hot.

The last event had been an RAC Sprint, I had bled the brakes before the event but heading to the track without bleeding them again I quickly found I just couldn't get them bite hard enough.

So i'm going to need better fluid, brake cooling or better brakes.

Pondering new discs and braided lines or wondering if that money would be better put towards a Wilwood kit.

What are the new wheels, and what happened to the Koing?

Considering your track usage, I'd think a BBK is the way to go. You can easily swap pads between street and track applications in addition to the extra stopping power.

They're rota grid concave 15x8 +20, I still have the Konigs but our club motorsport is very competitive and I can't afford to be chewing up my Rs doing fun track days.

I like the hats/rotors in the Goodwin BBK, happy to take advice.

So you've got 3 sets of wheels/tyres now? Street, track and motorsport?

I haven't any experience with BBKs, but I'm sure others do, and I'll be following along to read recommendations.

I'd recommend playing with pads on the standard rotors. I'm using Winmax W3's from Motorsport Brakes, and I've been quite impressed with them in my short sprint events. W5s might be better for long track stuff

I've had very good bite and zero fade running Carbotech XP10s on brand new (just stock/blank) rotors, Motul RBF600 fluid and 949 braided lines.

This includes doing a night of 2 flying laps on the long track, 3 on the short track at Barbagallo. I've also done a fun sprint at RAC doing 2 flying laps. No fade whatsoever.

I am not running much power though (stock SE with intercooler and intake).
