Keep that boot lid in good condition then I can mould it and make a few once I have my workshop sorted.

Re: Maki, まき, マキ
Since I've been working soooooo much lately I thought I deserved a present.
So I set about compiling my next wish list for Maki, its impressive to say the least
My credit card is almost paid off from the last purge and is ready for some more damage.
First up a splash of colour via Rspeed

and totally OT but this is on its way for me

Are they the same colour as my wheels or is the photos not giving credit to the finish, the choice of colour looks great though!

Re: Maki, まき, マキ
Be@rbricks are pretty awesome, but I haven't got one yet.
Awkward Octopus comes from the Wong Fu Productions guys, their videos are extremely creative and also funny, emotive, inspirational and sometimes just stupid. Here is the link to their site, their videos are well worth a look.
Car is on hold at them moment, my nan has fallen ill with cancer, so weekends are at the hospital and everything has generally been moved back.
Thinking of throwing the SSRs on the Astra for lolz if the weather fines up, but I'm not convinced they should hit the road on anything less than Maki.
Also need to sort out my door trims as they were damaged in the pull apart, another thing for the long "to do" list.

Re: Maki, まき, マキ
My custom interior : The Carpet Console.
So I have always wanted a carpet console and after some research decided to make my own rather than fork out for a Nakamae. I also was after something that sat flush with the transmission tunnel, so the only option was to fab something up.
Found this somewhere along the wayand this on miata.net both were very helpful when it came down to details and measurements.
Things you need:
Carpet (1.5m x 1.0m of Car Carpet or similar)
Old fabric or carpet for template
Stanley Knife
Metal Ruler
Tape Measure
Chalk
Markers
Cutting mat
Velcro Tape or Patches

Optional Extras:
Cobra Shift Boot
Cobra Shift Ring
Jet Stream Cover
Trap MS Panel
Scooter Grip
Toggle Switches
Carbon Toggle Switch Covers
First I ruled up the dimensions from from this site on the old fabric using the markers and tape measure.
Cut it all out and test fitted it to the car, I found a few things that I didn’t like, mainly the cut out for the handbrake and how much of the transmission tunnel was covered. I wanted carpet to the floor, up to the dash (as I have a Trap Centre Panel) and along into the foot wells.

Note the cut out for the handbrake on the left and width of the template.
So I decided to make a few adjustments and added 100mm to width and height, also decided that a slot for the handbrake would be a much neater finish. I made a whole new template with the new dimensions and adjusted the other measurements accordingly.
To have the carpet sit up into the foot wells I made a cut out and the carpet easily slides in under the centre panel and is held in place. As the console now reaches all the way to the parcel shelf I cut some more slots to accommodate the bend in the tunnel where the boot release is. If you wish to have the carpet on the floor, more slots are needed to make sure it all sits flat (on the template just cut them with scissors while in the car.)

My second fabric template looked like this
Note the slot for the handbrake, the cut out to reach the foot wells and the extra width and length.
After messing around with fabric, it was time for the first carpet template. Lay out the carpet with the underside up and place the fabric template on top, trace the outline of the template with masking tape, just be sure to check all your edges are straight and the template doesn’t move. I found using masking tape made it really easy if something wasn’t straight, you can just pull it up and try again, it was easy to see too. Once you’ve masked the template, mark which side of the tape you need to cut as it’s easy to forget after you start cutting. To get the hole for the shift ring in the right spot I masked up the two lines suggested on the site and once I had the template in the car used chalk to mark out what needed to be trimmed.

This is what it looked like before the first test fit in the car. It was almost perfect, but I still wasn’t happy with the way it was sitting around the handbrake. Once it was fitted to the car I realised I needs slots in the carpet to help it sit flat around the moulding on the floor pan and it would help if it was angled to sit neatly near the parcel shelf, I marked these cuts up with chalk and cut them out of the car.
So I made a another template on carpet and cut the slot for the handbrake a little smaller and it worked perfectly, I am really impressed with it.

Note the smaller handbrake slot and angled edges to accommodate where the parcel shelf and transmission tunnel meet.
The final console finishes about 20-25cm up into the foot well, reaches the floor on both sides while sitting neatly around the floor moulding and sits flush with the parcel shelf and Jet Stream Cover.

This is the test fit pic from the first carpet template not the large slot for the handbrake.
You can see the not so neat fit around the Jet Stream Cover and the floor moulding, all this is flush in the final.
I haven’t got any photos of the final one yet as its on the car and the car is in the garage half covered in wet paint and drop sheets. I’ll try and get some pics tomorrow, just depends on the weather.
So this is how I incorporated my Christmas present from ENVY, don’t have a scooter so used it here! (helps that it is green =P)

Like the Scooter grip ! Does this mean the car will be doing some drifting also?
