I am a bit taller than you and, what may clear your helmet might hit mine. :D I'm sure these are high on your list of priotities, just like making sure the seat has a f/r adjustability.

You'll be fine, just kink your neck a little :P . Actually I put the diagonals in that orientation so that they would encroach on the occupants head space the least. You know a poorly triangulated node is poor form. The proof will be in the execution. Yes, the seats have fore/aft adjustment...standard NC seat rails were used.

Once you have mastered the performance of your s'charged NA8, you may well get the chance! 8)

No progress on the NC this weekend. Spent the day at work getting the RX-8 shell I sold stripped out, so that the guy can hopefully pick it up this week. Helps to keep the Renesis NC project ticking over :D .

It went from this....

That must have taken you quite a while to complete? So what are you going to do with the removed parts and trims? Garage sale? 8)

It took a solid 12 hrs to strip and sort out the complete shell (not including engine & gearbox). All the left over bits will be for sale once I go through and document exactly what is there. Anyone what the interior? :D The colour is obviously not to everyones liking....it was not a colour scheme that was an option in Australia.

Danny

Danny if I wasn't going for the NB8B interior in my NA, I would snap up those seats, they would go spot on with my interior. bugger now you have me thinking again. thats twice in the one week. anything to ward off dementure.

Yay!!! The rollcage is finally underway!!! :D

The main hoop has been bent up so I can begin confirming the dimensions of the remaining members. The profile and position of the main hoop is the basis of the cage. I did a quick test fit in another shell this afternoon. All looks good so far. Need to see how I went with my dimensions relating to clearance with the stripped out hardtop. Will do it this week. Here's a few piccies.

Cheers,
Danny

glad to see some progress! i seriously admire this whole project. do you plan on keeping the power steering? the 13B would be pretty light, and seeing as how it's going to be a track car, it might be a good move, no?

Definitely keeping the power steering rack for its ratio....because of the reduced vehicle weight and the fact it will never be registered I will be running it unpowered. Will see how it goes...pretty confident that the steering effort will be acceptable.

Danny

Hi Jaron, cheers for the support! :D

I'm hoping it may see the track sometime this year although I haven't been able to find much time so far  Even taking leave didn't free up enough hours to get some serious work completed on it :( .

February 2009 is just about gone  ....here's what I achieved this month.

I test fitted the main hoop to see how my tape measurements faired....not bad, but a couple of changes were necessary. In the solid model I had the main hoop leaning slightly rearward, however I found that this detail caused interference with the internal structure of the hard top. So I have reverted to my first design that had the main hoop vertical. A revised manufacturing drawing for the main hoop has now been completed and hope to have the new hoop this coming week. I also confirmed the foot plate detail for the main hoop. Here are a few piccies of the trial fitment.

I was looking for some quick wins today, so I fitted the rear section of exhaust and the rear wing. 8) Here's the result...the lighting wasn't the best. :frown: I couldn't be bothered cleaning anything other than the boot as it's only going to be covered in crap again.

The stickers on the rear wing have to go!!!

The flange at the front of the rear section of the exhaust system will be removed back at the point where the tube splits into the twin 2.5" bore mufflers and then pumped up to 3" with a new 3 bolt flange welded in place.

...and this is where the car resides once again waiting for me to find a spare hour or two! :|
