By 38 seconds the right video was ahead of the left, but by the end of the lap the left video had caught up. One lap was definitely faster than the other for some portion, and the other was too!

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
The left was the most recent (November) and the left one in August.StillIC wrote:One lap was definitely faster than the other for some portion, and the other was too!
There has been some small changes between the dates to decrease drag. It looks like the changes worked but the driver $#@$ed it up!
T1 exit about the same speed.
T2 was where the most damage was done, I failed to get the drive out and the right screen was almost 7kmh faster. At the apex the left is 4 kmh faster, but by the end of the ripple strip on the exit it is 3 kmh slower. At the gear change 5 kmh slower. Right at the 200m sign 186 left 180
T3 left at turn in 91 whereas right was 81. The data shows much later braking hence picked up time. Achieved much better drive out as well.
The run to T4 on the right I did not change to 5th hence was able to accelerate more. Staying in 4th normally causes me to hit the RPM limit before T4.
T4 the left has more entry speed but lost it on exit to the right lap.
T5 The run to T5 is a pain as I hit the limiter in 3rd and need to make the change to 4th on exit. I have tried short shifting into 4th just before the corner but it does not seem to help my lap time.
T6 in the right lap I braked way too early and again lost time. This also showed on the exit.
Have another session on the National soon so hopefully I will remember my own advice!

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
As asked by Kyle Forster, the rear bumper has been cut down (Beavis style) using a spare (damaged) bumper I had at home. However, the rear garnish fell apart when taking off the bumper Anybody have one for sale?
If the test works the rear will be made neater and the metal around the rear wheels will be removed.
The car is not very 'pretty' anymore...

Mazda MX5 parts for sale or swap. But it must have sold as it’s not on there now.
It’s a closed group but just ask to join if you are not already. Otherwise I can keep a eye out for another on on there and let you know.

I wonder what the other half will say... The comments on the front air dam were "that's ugly" so I wonder what she will say about the 'small' bumper cut

Not sure now that I can't find the ad anymore - I think it may be a different one but at least you may have found one (and perhaps likely to drop their price now seeing its been listed for a while?

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Why have a bumper at all, if you are going to cut it that much? Honest question, wouldn't it have been easier to just remove it completely. Does that little bit left do anything?
Yep, that's one ugly rear end now. Its just a shame that what works well for aero doesnt always look pleasing to the eye...

It gives a reference point to measure off The reason for the 'high' cut was the reflectors on the bumper. Maybe the next cut will not be as 'extreme'.rascal wrote: Does that little bit left do anything?

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Finally got my hands on some 225/45/15 AR-1-s!!! There are not many left in Brisbane either!
The 205/50/15 AR-1's have been moved to the 7" 6UL's so will have some data on these tyres on 3 different rims sizes.
The 225/45's will be heat cycled on Saturday then put away until possibly the last event this year in a few weeks. The 2 sets of AD08R's I have will remain wrapped in plstic and stored in the shed for the moment...

They've been made the control tire for boosted cars and those with more than a 2lt engine in our club motorsport.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
