ROOF: Sorry, no clever reason for the open top. More of a legacy reason.

It already had a CAMS approved half cage when I bought it and it was higher than the standard roof line on an MX5, so I couldn't fit a roof unless I got one custom made. I did look at it when I added to the cage but it would have been a very tight fit and mea'nt cutting out the old cage. In terms of aero, having an open top is definitely not good, but I like the roof less driving experience, so am happy for the trade-off. I would have liked to cut the windscreen off completely and go old school Le Mans style racer (which is best for aero), but WTAC rules state that cars must have an OEM windscreen.

Thanks for the tip Black_Penguin - a flat panel over the x-brace may still be an option.

Have attached some shots of the engine bay and dry sump in the boot.

Thanks Speed Freak. Yeah, was out there testing the new wing, but had problems with a ball joint that kept coming loose....which was supposedly fixed.

Saw this at ces one day and wondered when it would pop up.. it's a mad build man! Well done.

Was the car built with the kit from the guys in wa that still uses the ppf? Although, I suppose that went with the gearbox conversion?

Thanks Plohl. Nah, the mounts and oil pan were custom from the guy I bought it from. I tried contacting the Typhoon guy in WA several times for an oil pan replacement when mine started leaking, but never got a reply. Tried a few guys in the U.S as well, but also no reply. That's why the dry sump went in.

Dry sumps are baller man! Haha. Bit disappointing you never heard back from them.

Hopefully I see you out at the track one day, would love to have a closer look at it again!

Epic aero mods, that is the sort of thing I had in mind for my car.

Awesome to see this thing evolve. It was quick back when i was doing time attack now it will be ridiculous with the new setup.

Great work mate !

Thanks Charlie. By the way, how is yours going? Do you still have it, or has it been sold?

Yeah Corners. That's the one. The turbo manifold broke in two at the last track day in Dec '12, the left shock was leaking, the custom oil pan was leaking, the engine was due for a rebuild, I couldn't fit rubber wider than 225's on the front due to rubbing and I was concerned about safety without the full cage and the speed it was doing (eg. 205km/h flat through the kink at Lakeside). So it went in to address those issues... and as often happens came out with other "might as well" extras and fixes while the opportunity was there.

Awesome, I remember meeting the old owner when he came on a Lotus Club run early one sunday morning quite a few years back.

I then remember seeing it again at Lakeside during a time attack day I think. I remember either yourself or another owner saying the previous owners project was a Ford Duratec engine into a Westfield type thing

Yeah, that's right Corners. He was going to build a crazy clubman of some sort with a Ford Duratec Turbo engine and aero. Not sure if he's finished it yet.

The only NA I can think of was the metallic blue turbo Clubman getting an SR20, from many years ago (this one is flat blue)?
