Ozi milhouse was another keen on this car, after seeing his car on the weekend, and AL's I'd be lieing if I said I didn't have big turbo envy, but it seems to hold it's own as far as outright speed goes.
So keen for MRA! Bought a fia two layer suit and a new helmet for 300(!) bucks on Saturday , suits one size too small, but I figure I'm dieting and it should be a little less snug come July. Now it's only boots, gloves, diff and tyres before I'm ready to go! Oh and a licence/log book

I'm interested to see how good the konig CE28 style wheels are, if they are light like the RP style, I will be getting a set of them for my spare/street rims. Eventually, they're far from top priority ATM.
If the "lookalikes" come from one if the known manufacturers, like Konig and Enkei (and I use these brands because they are known) then it's not an issue from a performance perspective.
But you could get some unknown backyard operation or factory that doesn't follow manufacturing standards, then...
I don't even think there is anything wrong with Vorks or Yolk. They probably come from one of the main manufacturers and some enterprising guy has had some stickers made and stuck them on. The issue is whether or not he has a number of suppliers which may include a dodgy manufacturer...or worse yet, tried to pass them off as the original item.
Anyway, quite the hijack of your thread! Will stop now.

You both clocked 120hm/h on main straight (I was only 2 behind ).
Trust Hellmuns advice, you will break your box eventually and the reroute will help even AL (Allan) had heat issues.

That speed comparo was my main basis for "holding it's own" comment
I know the cars not bulletproof, and there will be more "toughness" as I tinker with it, but it works to well not to use it as is while it's going! I have run it hard in hi ambient without overheating, so I have confidence in the cooling system, but will be buying some gauges to keep a more detailed eye on what's going on under the hood soon.

I get what your saying, what Mark wanted to illustrate was that the 4th cylinder has major cooling issues without a decent reroute. Your radiator and "cooling" system may be sufficient it's just a issue that most turbo NA people have stumbled upon.
Cool! Is there a way of monitoring said problem or is it just a case of one cylinder goes pop then you know its not up to scratch. my concern is that the previous owner stated it was ready to be abused at the track, but the forementioned problem would make it a hand grenade.
Long story short, the mx5 was originally an easy west engine.
They had the water pump at the timing belt end, which is the inlet, and the thermostat at the other end, which is th eoutlet.
In an mx5, to keep the thermostat at the front, both the inlet and outlet are at the front, so water doesnt properly circulate the rear of the engine, to fix this, you put the thermostat back at the back, and run a new pipe to the rear.
I thought that side of things were fine as the thermos rarely kick in, temp gauge never moves but yeah if it's only basing the info from one end of the motor, it may be well on it's way to rooted by now after the flogging it has received.
The story goes on... Ok so a bit of my history. Ive been doing motorkhanas since I was 12, when i got my first Mini, I won a few Junior titles, but more importantly picked up alot of basic car control techniques used at all speeds. Also got the opportunity to fang Mums Sprite, Shown here at the Nationals @ Willowbank I also did some Supersprints in Dads Bugeye, Complete with Z18t conversion I got to 18 and started drinking and partying heaps and events were few and far between, then Mum went and bought a Skyline Gtst! After a lap of the block, I loved the car, so smooth so comfy so fast. So I asked permission and booked myself in for a CSCA Supersprint on Oran Park GP. I was having a ball, apparently too much so the CoC soon had words, telling me to f*ck off to a drift day if you want to drive like that. In the email with results, there was a cover image, a MkII Jag at 45 deg at the end of the straight. So drifting was fine, but doing it in a Jap sports car was a no no. Curiosity got the better of me, I asked Mum again if I could borrow her car and signed on for the Oran Park Night Masters drift series, run every second friday night throughout summer under lights utilising the go kart track as a figure of 8 circuit. I had found my idea of fun. Although the Skyline was stock, a flat out driving style meant I made the car look more developed than it was! A little vid before coilovers, fmic, seat, anything really, just sh!tty tyres
After placing in the last event of the series (3rd) the bug had bitten and I signed up to do the Drift Australia feeder series, Super Drift. This meant towing my mums car around the country and taking on some of the best amatuers in the country. First Round was at Mallala Qualified 3rd in SD at Queensland Raceway Got a big speed hit at Eastern Creek And rocked Tassie! After the first four rounds, I decided I needed Mums car to make more noise, and took it to get an exhaust.... then things got interesting!
More to follow later on, Im off to the drive ins tonight. Might finish this chapter after the movies. Cheers
What colour was your 33? Oran park was about 10mins from my house, and by far the most enjoyable circuit i have dríven.
The bug eye was a monster, good for 1:09s on the old Wakefield layout. Miss that car! It's over in Perth now, with some serious power apparently (we ran the engine in stock form)
