Re: Noddi's MX na6
Hey people.
Obviously there is more to come, it’s just a matter of finding the time to be on the computer to do it.
Just thought I’d let anyone know if they are reading it.

Haha yeah I know I've been slack about time I told the poor tale of my mx lol.
Thanks
The flares could do with some reshaping a bit but maybe now they could get it

Re: Noddi's MX na6
Right time to continue.
The soft top never got put back in. After the respray as it was in bad shape and I had a hartop so wasnt fussed
I took the car down for its rwc passed with no problems.
Finally I had it registed and on the road again time to get out and enjoy it.
I originally got just a pair of numberplates from service tas.
I looked at them and thought it won’t be that long till they get to A89MX
So that’s it I was on the hunt as they weren’t a custom plate and custom plates in Tassie were close to $1000 that I just couldn’t justify.
They were released and got resent from one of the other service tas stores, to my local one and they gave me a call . I also orded a Slimline plate for the front $60 bucks extra but was differently worth it.
This is a pic of it sitting in the driveway one morning before I headed off to work.
A few from a stop on one of my random drives.
I also got a Roadster rear chrome bar didnt do anythng strength wise but looked good.

Re: Noddi's MX na6
Thanks for the updates and the pics.
The flares look surprisingly good, almost OEM, NC-ish!
Car looks great with the paint and hardtop.
How did the preparaion and painting go? Did you do it all yourself or did someone do the actual spraying/buffing? How many coats?
I think it's a very brave person (or someone who really knows how to do it) who does DIY in black, since it would show every area that is not perfect!
From the pics it looks fantastic.

Re: Noddi's MX na6
Yeah I have a long way to go before I’m actually up to what’s happening at the moment but guess it will teach me for not starting a build thread earlier haha.
Yes you're right does give it a NC kind of look.
When I brought them I didn’t really notes, but after having them on and out with the Tassie MX5 section on a few cruises. I couldn’t help but notes the Similarity they give the NA to the NC.
As for the prep work I did nearly all of it myself, with a friend giving me tips suggestions etc along the way.
The actual top coat I can’t take the credit for. I’m not too sure how many coats he put on and he also did the buffing.
The car does hold its own as far as looks go, but if you wanted to start looking for blemishes etc it’s not hard to find them.
Pretty sure I know everyone on the car.
As the whole job was done on a very tight budget, and being the fact I wanted to paint it black made it even worse.
It did blow out on the budget a bit
Still All up after the buffing it sat there and owed me no more than 3grand oven baked and all so I was happy.
The paint job is now 4 years old so it does have some sections which could do with a bit of tlc but its not flaking off anywhere so a quick wash and chamois down can still make it shine and pull of a good impression.
I had it buffed up a few years ago and it brought the depth out in the paint again so nicely.
Im pretty sure if it got buffed again it would do the same thing.
Thanks for you're comments its great to hear them.

Re: Noddi's MX na6
Right another old but new to this build post.
My offset numberplate bracket for the front.
I had seen the kits to be able to do it but wanted to do my own.
I got one of those 3 sided metal fence posts if you know what I mean
Then cleaned it up and cut to size to be able to weld it onto the original tow hook.
Drilled some holes for the numberplate to fit on and gave it a coat of black paint
Also some time ago I hit a rather large wallaby... turns out this bracket saved my front bar.
It was that solid it took the whole impact due to that’s what the wallaby hit.
Numberplate was a bent mess though. So saw the chance and got a slimline one for the front

Re: Noddi's MX na6
Right time for another..
As the car was on a budget due to having a house to pay off
The items I really wanted
BC gold coilovers, Sportmax xxr 513s 15x8 0 offset wheels and Kumho KU36 205 50 15 tyres.
Were all out of my budget reach..
Till I had some luck and got offered to sell the house back to the original owners, who had moved back from overseas and wanted that house and no other.
What a deal I thought so I agreed to sell it back to them (for more then I paid whoo)
With this a done deal I thought right time to get and do what I really want to do
So I ordered the coilovers wheels and tyres and sat and waited for them to arrive
Here is a pic of one of the wheels on the front
Tragedy I didn’t realise how much poke the 15x8 0 fitment was and was left in dream land again.

Re: Noddi's MX na6
I did some searching and found front and rear adjustable top arms.
I thought right if I get these with a lot of playing around I might get them to fit.
They arrived and packed the car with everything and went down to Tyre Power to see John who also has an mx5.
I don’t know if he is on the forum or not but my dreams probably wouldn’t of happened if it wasn’t for his shop and there help.
Spent the day down there with them using there hoist to fit everything and then it was on to the Alignment machine.
I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking
These are some pictures after everything was sorted and out and about
This was out on one of the tassie mx5 days

Re: Noddi's MX na6
Next mods I did were get a set of tow hooks. I brought them from the states but failed to read they were for a NB not a NA.
They arrived all the same and I thought I would see what I could do with them. front one fitted fine which was great.
Got to the back and looked at how it could work... Ened up reshaping the mounting point and tack welded in a nut to create the other mounting position needed.
It was on the car structure like the original one as I used parts from it to make it happen.
I was happy with the result and the back was flat rather then Horizontal like most of the aftermarket ones

Re: Noddi's MX na6
These are some pictures from some of the tassie mx5 club days I went on...
This is from one of the Australia day cruises our group of mates and friends go on each year in Tassie.
We go from the Bluff in Devonport to Boat habour for a bbq and swim then on to sisters beach for a beach cricket.
This is me and tony agreeing our cars are small enough... The two car spaces say small car parking only haha classic
