Cheers, shall be fine Ill talk to Athid next time he comes into work, I dont mind rolling guards as long as they dont crack.

Ahahahha everyone hates the gear knob untill they drive a car with one. I still need a short shifter But still is bloody nice to drive.

The only other option was one of those extender shafts then a random gear knob on top, that looked sorta dodgy to me, don't get me wrong I'm not the biggest fan of the look, but if makes me chuckle.

Got a phone called and had to rush to OTR in Springvale after work to pick up a package:

Id say its made for the MX5!

Whilst driving home I rocked up next to this:

For the first time ever I felt small driving my car.

For those playing at home here's what was in the package:

Should have time on Monday to throw it all in :]

Well I got phone call from a mate last night at about 9, saying ""Whats up man I'm bored wanna do your suspension" after a bit of arguing and back and forth I realized Id much appreciate the extra set of hands.

Long story short finished the car at around 12 30, everything went smoothly apart from my spring compressors been too long and hitting the chassis before they compressed the spring enough so had to whack out the grinder at 10 30, I'm sure the neighbours liked that.

Anyway forgetting to measure height and take pictures before hand or when I got home, this is how it would have sat last night at 12 30:
Image

Wasn't wayyy off, but the back seemed way lower then the front measured the hub to guard got
Front Left: 328 mm
Front Right: 323 mm
Rear Left: 310 mm
Rear Right: 313 mm

Just quickly before it got too hot this morning made them a uniform 305 all round (any recommendation is having the back higher or lower than the front? this is the first time Ive had Height adjustable coilovers....)

not too visible with crappy phone pics, but I had hand marks all over the car:

So gave the car a quick wash and took some decent quality pictures (found the camera) of how it sits now. Too lazy for exotic locations so decided where it stood in my carport would be fine.

All round Im quite happy with the ride it feels much tighter, have them set to max minus 6 at the rears and max minus 4 at the front. And wasn't nearly as rough a ride as I thought it would be, completely driveable compared to the Escort :P considering bumping them up a bit.... but it seems like a good setting to start on

So will order rims in the next few days, get guards rolled between now and when they come so I can set it up for the ride height I want. but all in all well worth the $1.2 don't know whats next on the list, I'm considering a butterfly brace, just because when I went up a steep-ish bump to get to my mates house the car seems to almost "twist" I guess and the hard top made some weird noises that creeped me out a bit, maybe a roll bar, but I don't like the possibility of making it harder to zip out rear window. Then there's always Sparcos but not sure how hard it'll be to get in and out of car/be comfy for daily use, Ive always wanted Bride's but cost soo much.

Also quick question whats the difference between say a butterfly brace and something like this:

Quick update,

Saturday night I went on my first spirited drive on a proper road, me and a mate grabbed some kebabs and headed up the Dandenongs, Had a blast, had a few good runs didn't really get stuck behind anyone slow until we were coming home, or if we did we got waved past. Made me realize I need better lights, as I couldn't see jack. Will tackle that hurdle soon enough.

Also wheels have been ordered and should be here on Friday - ish. :]

Ahahahha, mx5 is costing me too much in fuel, went to Healsville area last night, drove round some bloody nice roads, but spent half of the time on dirt roads -.- at about 9 45 we were stuck on a dirt road with 20 km's till the next town when I looked at my petrol gauge and the needle was under empty, I shat my self, after getting to the end of the dirt road (almost 20kms *sigh*) I reached the top of a hill I got to coaster down in neutral had some mean fir got to about 90-100kmph in parts all at idle in neutral, finally hit the first town at 10 05, where we fond out the service station owner was a wanker and wouldn't sell us petrol because he closed 5 minutes ago, he yelled at us that the next servo was 15km's up the road, that was closed too. After what seemed like and eternity we finally rocked up at a service station that was miraculously open, petrol fumes never smelt so good. I don't no how we managed to get that far, but was the scariest feelings in my life, thinking that you'll run out of petrol in the middle of no where, it wasn't too bad after we hit the second town at least there was houses nut boy was I scared.

An way here's a few of the decent pictures:

By the looks of things, you're doing it right the first time! Good to see

And wow those wheels came quickly! What tires are you going to run?

Huh what am I doing right the first time?

Just gonna run KU31's, I got a good offer on r1r's but sorta broke at the moment.

Will be a few weeks before tires, or possibly just next week if I get bored :P

Spoke to Athid (master guard roller) he said the mud guards at the back may give him/us some headaches, do I want to take them off? and I cant bear the thought of my MX5 without them :[ We'll see what happens.

Modifying. You dont buy some second hand part and upgrade later. Well you might change your mind, but you've bought decent set of coilovers and wheels. I'm on blown cuscos atm haha

As for mudguards, I got rid of mine. I live on a crappy dirt road and being lowered so I thought it would be best to ditch them. All up to you really

Oh ok cheers for the compliments :]

I have been told that before. Like knowing what I'm rolling on. Try not to buy second hand just incase. But ill never pass up a bargain. Working in the industry helps alot though. So much easier been able to buy stuff off the self I love it.

Consider the petrol thing to be a learning experience. Now you know that "empty" still leaves you with probably 50km worth of petrol.

This is true, in my defense Im use to cars that always read empty so I figured when this reliable one told me I was empty I thought I would be :P

I think next time I go that far I should probably take a jerry can and my spare.
