Nah, haven't opened my engine and don't rev it high enough to need one. 200rwhp is about all my budget can afford at the moment :lol: . Apparently they are the go but.

Yeah, the old Pinto engine use to do the same thing. I rectified the problem by running a bypass to the back of the block from the bypass pipe on the waterpump, same as the pinto engine, Problem solved :)

Quick update.

I had some new pipes made for the car over the last few weeks.

Heading down for a dyno on Tuesday night, but so far so good. Massive improvement from 5000rpm onward

This is the latest of the developement on my car with the new pipes from Brae Fabrication fitted (my recipe, his hands on experience). We had a number of runs playing around with mixtures, cam timing etc. The end result was 151rwkw which is 14rwkw up on the old pipes. You will also notice a dip in the curve between around 5700 and 6300rpm, except on the run with pink line on the graph. We tried a number of different things to correct the dip but the changes still left the problem there. Both my dyno man and I suspect an air speed problem relating to scavenging. The carbs currently have a 70mm long Weber style ram tube fitted. I didn't have any short ones to try, so we removed the ram tubes. Although it upset overall power which we expected it also got rid of the dip as you'll notice on the chart with the pink line. The next step will be to play around with some better designed short ram tubes, and/or the secondary length on the pipes. Overall a good result, and lots learnt.

Looks like you are dropping around 20kw where the dip is, which is a lot even if you are making over 150rwkw. Does the wastegate arm move freely? Boost leak perhaps?
