Looks like it might have spent a bit of its life beach-side - might be worth checking under the rear parcel shelf carpet & sound deadening. Good progress though!

Yeah it was full of sand when I cleaned it and there's heaps of surface rust everywhere. Oh well, I'll clean it up as I go along. This is all just for a roadworthy for now. Thanks!

Time for more sanding...

Meanwhile, Dad took some measurements off the mx5 and modded the cockpit to suit. He took the deep dish wheel off and put the original one back on until his flat 320mm gets here.

GT5 mainly, although we do have WRC there and F1 2010. I'll get into those when I get sick of GT5 haha.

This setup is just a test mule for now, we're using it to get everything in the right spot and then we're gonna make one that's a bit tidier looking and lower to the ground. We're probably gonna make it so that the sub sits directly on the ground and mount the monitor on it's own stand so that it doesn't shake around when you're driving. It gets pretty hectic when I drift haha. I think that there's only a couple of things left, which would be flip the pedals and move the clutch over a bit, and move the hand brake to up next to the shifter. You can't see it in that photo but it's down beside the seat. It's a shitty spot for a handbrake but we didn't have anywhere else to put it. On the next one we'll put a rail the whole way up the left side to act as a centre console and a place to put the shifter/handbrake. And cup holders, of course haha.

Pretty happy with that given that this is my first ever attempt at bodywork of any kind. Should have the sill in spray putty by tomorrow night.

Left a rag on the boot by accident and it had metho on it...oops haha:

Coming along nicely, like the other guy said, but just above the parcel shelf on there are 3 metal bars that are bolted in, where the carpet connects connects.

Mine had a little rust on it, might pay to check :)

Sub'd, can't wait to see the end product.

Okay, little update. Got my genuine sway bar bushes today, as well as a new headlight. I'll probably fit those bushes tonight and do the headlight when I'm done the radiator support, which should be tonight if I can get off my lazy arse. Also got a replacement mirror on the way, not sure what colour it is though haha.

It's not looking good for a roadworthy at the moment, I want it done by thursday, friday at the latest. I'll have the body work done by then for sure but I'm still trying to chase these damn ball joint boots. I've given up looking for them and started looking for just ball joints but no one seems to have them either. And to replace the upper ones, I need the whole arm (cbf pressing them out.). If anyone can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.

Pics later tonight.

That's all folks. I didn't get the radiator support done because I didnt have an in between sand paper, only got 400 or 1200 so that will be fixed tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get the sill spray puttied tomorrow night and painted the next, road worthy the day after? :D

well done so far!

hell of a lot more work is going into this than what it took me to get my 5k 5 on the road. :NA6:

Once you start driving it you'll love it & never look at another car the same way ever again.

Yeah it's needed a bit of work so far but I know it will be well worth it in the end. I can't wait till Thursday to get this thing on the road, it will be a rather satisfying moment :D

Got Dad to pick up all the ball joint boots that I needed as well as the clutch slave boot from MX5Plus this arvo. Big win for cobby, and massive props to MX5Plus for being sick kents. Got a mirror coming tomorrow and got some more sand paper on the way home this arvo as well as some rust converter. Thursday still looks promising for a roadworthy Anyway, same deal for tonight, I'm off to go work on the car and I'll put pics up when I go to bed.

Updating now because I couldn't be bothered last night.

Got all the ball joint boots on, here's why I struggled to find them, repco/car bits boot on the left, genuine on the right. There isn't a ridge on the ball joint for any seals, therefore repco ones are a shitty fit. The bottom one just flat out didn't work. But that's cool now, genuine parts solve everything :D cheers to mx5plus for having everything I needed.
how stupid is trying to get mx5 window wipers off, i mean wtf... mine were so useless they used to touch the bonnet and the bonnet would move every time my wipers were on.
Well I can safely say that I haven't crossed this problem yet haha, mine were tight but pry bars win every argument.

Okay so tonight was the deadline, and I think I may have just made it. Currently waiting for stone protection paint to dry, I got a fair bit done.

Left work at about 4:20 armed with Mum's rav4 to get home faster, I got home just after 4:30 and pretty much got straight into it.

First up I got the radiator support sanded back and laid down a coat of white. Then I sanded the sill down to find all the high spots so I could...not give a ƒü¢k about them haha. Got some primer down over the spray putty.

By then the rad support was dry so I sanded that back and threw the second coat of white down.

Went out to the shed and found a split pin to replace one that I'd lost the other night. Fitted that and then went and sanded the primer back and threw another coat of primer on.
Then I went and sanded the rad support and chucked the final layer of paint down and then went and finished off the wiper blades.

Started the car because I had triple j playing for like 3 hours at that point and didn't want to kill the battery haha. Was idling like sh*t so I adjusted that while I was there

Anyway, got up to now where I'm waiting for the underbody stone chip protector paint to dry then I'll get it off the stands and take it for a run around the block to make sure it's all good.

Enough book writing, here's some pics:

Special thanks to Dad for showing me how to mix/use bog, ben for lending me tyres, mx5plus for the boots, a bunch of other sick cunts for just generally being sick cunts, you for reading this, and all of these fellas:

I feel like I've actually achieved something with this car, I'll feel even better if it passes a roady tomorrow. Stay tuned for modifications, these will come in good time my friends :D

That's all for me now, I'm out to go test drive the car and put the door card back on.

Cheers.

Okay so I'm finally in bed, been finishing this thing off since 4:40ish this arvo. But the main thing is it's done. Now all it has to do is pass a rwc tomorrow and I'll be back on the road, like a bawss.

Here's the sill now I'm done with it:

Good stuff! At least you can now do mods in your own time without a RWC & rego deadline.
