Haha awesome!

Did he remove the entire post? Or just the GPS tag? I would love to see the post if you could find it. I had no luck searching the forums =(

I work at olympic park so i'm parked there every day!

Post number "#24836" in the spotted thread if that link doesn't work.

My post is 3 under that one. Pic's been removed. I took a copy of the pic though (for my collection of mx5's with wheels I like folder). Here's a version of it where I've deleted the GPS data off of it for you so stalkers can't find you. ;)

Haha thanks wilch! That's awesome. Gives me a funny feeling when people take photos of my car... I like it!

On another note, i'll be getting new tyres this weekend... due to a flat..

And i've decided on a full respray in the same colour since this car will soon be a weekend only car. Hopefully no prick will throw an egg or reverse into me.. I'll be stuck on public transport in 3 weeks! =(

NA respray is a great option. What exactly is the colour anyway?

I was at the Irish Festival of Speed last weekend and a bloke there had his black NA there, with the full respray less than a week old. Car looked immaculate.

Could be some pics of it here. There was a very nice NA 'Merlot' there too, also in pics, in a wine colour.

Hopefully I can help remove your excess gear and part fund that respray. Are you doing it asap or do you have a bit of time? There's someone in the NSW MX5 club who you might want to contact to discuss the respray, if you are open to options. :) He's just northwest of you from memory.

It's montego blue! I was toying with the idea of changing the colour completely, but I think the stock colour is a better option otherwise I might get carried away. (i've always liked canary yellow) =) And I would to see this car restored to an flawless condition.

I'm not in a rush, the damage is done... ready to be fixed, but it isn't going any where... Unfortunately =( I'm more than happy to get a second opinion/option on the respray! I'd love to have a chat with him.

Brighter colours are always better ;)

They pop more, stand out, and show all the lines of the car more than a dark colour will, IMO. :D

ie. colour change, DOO IIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!! :D

I went crazy... =( I sold my shares because of the current market (at a loss I might add) and have since nearly spent it all!!! Hahaha...

Well lets start the list..

1) Brand new RE002 195/50/15 tyres - installed now!

Image

Image

2) Finished painting rear brake calipers blue.

Image

Image

3) Instrument Cluster - Came with brushed aluminium cover, chrome rings and chrome needle cap covers.

Image

4) Smoked front blinkers
5) Smoked front and back bumper reflectors
6) REV 9 Front Lip
7) REV 9 Rear Lip
8) REV 9 Rear Spoiler
9) Front Windscreen replacement on monday (to get rid of this damned wiper scratch!)
10) Booked car in for suspension tune up and alignment next saturday (raising rear height for more forward braking and changing camber). This hopefully will stop the car living on the rear bump stops! =)
11) Carbon Fibre Spark Plug Cover - paid for today from Garagestar
12) HID install booked in. Getting 6000k lights installed since those halogen lights are killing me!
13) LED parker lights, reverse lights, dash and fontoon lights - all 6000k white.
14) And of course the respray is in the works..
15) I'm still in search for a smoked side indicator light. There was one on ebay but some one bought it before I could even more than glance at it!
16) I've decided on the mania CAI, enlarged intake.. but it might have to wait until after the respray.. ^^

Haha! I like your logic... but it means another 1k to change colour since they have to paint inside engine bay and interior etc..
And I don't really know what colour to choose... ^^ I don't want to ruin the car and knowing how impulsive I am, that's a real possibility.

I've got a few questions...

1) Should I spray the lips/spoiler the same colour as the car or keep it in the black.
2) Are smoked reflectors legal?
3) Has anyone tried to carbon fibre wrap your black plastic light covers? Or would this just look pathetic?

I've got a small update. Carbon wrapping the headlights.

I tried something new... it didn't turn out that well but here it is for reference. I'll definately be re-trying this.
Carbon fibre wrapping the headlight housings.

This technically could be done in any colour - is not permanent like painting - and is a vinyl material which is very durable.

The good side!
Image
The front!
Image
The bad side... hidden by a sticker. It split here during wrapping.
Image

Steps that I took:

1) Clean the housing with methylated spirits.

2) Cut the carbon wrap to approximate dimensions of the housing. I did this by tracing around the housing and then adding an inch to each side so that it can wrap behind.

3) Start wrapping by starting at one side and smoothing out any creases as you go.

4) You will have to bend the wrap to conform with the bends and depressions of the housing. This is where I came unstuck.
I didn't use any heat to make it more pliable, so it ended up splitting and bubbling.

As I got to the last side it ended up splitting due to the pressure I was applying to it. So when I redo this housing and finish its brother, I will HAVE to use something hot...

I've only done one so far... and I think if I have heat next time it will conform alot better with a better result.

Cheers,
Marto

Dum de dum, that might have been me.

I found smoked indicators, front and rear reflectors and repeaters, some through eBay and some through other sites. I am only waiting on the repeaters to arrive.
I'll post some links when I've finished work.

haha damn you!! =)

Its fine I found some. They've all arrived and have been installed but the reflectors don't sit flush with the bumper.. definately not OEM style!

Have you found the same issue?

Will post pics later.

Latest updates.

1) Mazda Speed Seats - Have a sparco seat left over if any one wants! =)

Image

2) New leather shift boot and hand brake cover + brushed Aluminium Interior sticker thingy

Image

3) White LEDs behind the instrument cluster, but its still green due to the actual gauge faces. I wasn't game enough to disect the instrument cluster any further than I had, so i've left it as is. However it is definitely brighter and i'm happy with the effect.

4) Smoked Indicators and reflectors.

Image

Image

5) Raised Suspension 28mm all around + Alignment at Spinning Wheel Tyres - They did a great job, were cheap and very thorough. Recommended!

Image

Image

Not sure if I like how its sitting atm... but it rides alot better, is no longer living life on the rear bump stops and should look ALOT better once I have my front+rear carbon fibre lips installed.

6) Carbon Fibre Spark Plug Cover - I'm a little meh over this.

Image

That's it for now.
