A 2003 NB is a seriously good car too. You never loaded any pictures so we don't even know what colour it is.

I envy the seemingly small amount of time it took to find that beautiful example you have there and for a bargain price too! It took me more than 6 months to find mine.

BTW, I noticed your youtube username. Do you play guitar? Have you tried putting on in the mx5 yet? I have, and failed miserably. I honestly thought there was more room inside them. :).

Thanks for the feedback. What type of guitar doesn't fit? I'll have to try today. :)

Any of the full size (rectangular) style SKB road cases. It's seriously an issue with the roof up. They won't even fit in the boot. NA's are deceptively small. :)

My guitar does fit. I guess a smallish case would fit. My amp would struggle.

Here it is in the passenger seat :)

Here is the finished result of the rollbar installation.

One little problem though. The tonneau cover will not fit. :( I'll have to get it professionally modified.

I'm working on a build diary! Car will be at Mania next week for a service and will hopefully have the YSR coil overs fitted if there is stock.

Love your roll hoops - were they easy to install?

It was not hard just time consuming. What took the longest was making the MX5 Plus bar look the way I wanted it to. The installation was pretty easy thanks to great instructions and the help of some awesome fellow forum members. Thanks Guys !!

Just took my car for a quick drive. To fill her up with petrol and check the air in the tyres. I felt an almost immediate difference. My crossover at the end of my driveway ends in a spoondrain. Because I need to come off the crossover at an angle I always have first one wheel and then a second wheel drop into the spoondrain. This induces a twisting motion into any car. On my MX-5 it used to induce a barely perceptible chassis twist. After the spoondrain I have a patch of cobblestones that used to induce a small crashing sound from my rear suspension. Today there was nothing. The back end was totally rigid on both those sections. As I continued my drive over familiar roads, I noticed how the rear end of the car is now almost completely transformed into almost a solid block. For good measure I drove over some cateyes. Instead of a crashing sound I heard pitter patter. Now the only thing that has any squeeks is the passenger seat and the doors when I go over a pothole.

All I can say is I am totally amazed. I was expecting the rear end to feel stiffer but not to the extent that it does. Honestly I would have done this mod for this alone let alone the rollover protection.

On the way I tied my hoodie to the rollbar and experimented with how high a windbreak needs to be to be effective. I reckon a piece of perspex that comes up to the top of the bar would do a pretty good job.

Other thoughts about the rollbar include how it does not intrude in the rear view at all. It clears the roof as well and overall looks very nice so I am really pleased.

Apu, please see the guide here http://members.iinet.net.au/~marilynche ... -REV00.pdf.

I found it completely straightforward.

Thanks snshami! Now to get all those mods on without incurring "revenge shopping" expenses from my wife! YSR coil overs, exhaust and roll hoops...ouch! Leaving myself way open here!

My latest mod is to replace the clunky looking wipers with Bosch beam blades. It took five minutes to do. Most of that was for drilling out the rivets that hold on the aero deflector onto the driver's wiper. After looking at the Bosch beam blades its obvious that their shape will do effectively the same as the deflector plate and push the wipers down onto the windscreen at speed. I guess I'll know for sure once I drive the car, but my gut feel is that it will be fine.

As you can see it is so much cleaner looking and is probably the best bang for buck exterior change. All up it cost $48.00

I've had these fitted for about 18 months, love the clean look on the NB.
They work fine at (legal ish) road speeds.
The outer ends flutter at about 185kmh when in the parked position (main straight, Phillip Island)
They work OK in light drizzle up to about 160kmh (main straight, Sandown in the rain)
Must admit I was focusing on other issues at the time.

I assume that the aero blade didnt have to be removed for the wiper fitment?

I fitted a set of GoodYear blades that I acquired from costco... cost me under $20 the pair when they were on special and they are simply leagues and bounds ahead of the thinner ones that they replaced on my NA
More opportunities have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision.

The aero blade had to be removed. Without it the wipers were not going to fit.

I tried out an acrylic windblocker I got from another forum member on the club run to Woodend. It worked very well to keep the heat in but there is still a bit of draft to the back of the my head. The heat is much better retained and I was comfortable travelling at 110 on the Calder on the return and later yesterday night when the mercury dropped below 10 degrees.

Here are some more images of the car at the run

Here is another image of my car. I should have posted it at the beginning of this thread but here goes anyway. It shows the car in the car yard on the morning of the 24th of December. Its the car yard to the left.

See if you can work out which car it is.
