Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
so the chosen colour is artic white with clear coat
driver side door area primed
painted
over the next couple of days i will spray the inside cavity areas. followed on by the exterior shell then the clear coats.
very happy with todays results - paints on good and shiney and on the front end where i shot the clear coat - that's really nice
got a couple of video on photobucket - how do i get them to this site

Nice to see that you should have a unique looking SE after all of this paint work.
I hope the weather is good for your final paint days. Did you put up tarp walls in preparation or is it still too windy?

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
hi bizi
still windy at the moment. overnight temps are still 0 degrees. 17 max comes up by 11 or 12 noon so ii've got about 2 hours to give it a spray and the temp starts to drop.
i will need a 20 degree day for good clear coating.
once the wind drops off i will enclose the area in clear plastic 6x3 metres and that will give me a rise of 3 to 4 degrees.
then its into it
old dude
thanks for your positive comments. i think any-one reading through these threads must pick something up usefull. in fact i might have a read myself
just wondering if the weather doesn't improve and i toss the spraygun i think i could knock the job over really quick with a 3" paintbrush

i'd go for a paint roller in that case over a 3 inch brush, you'd get it done in no time

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
never thought about the roller so that's a pretty good idea - in that case i could use both, the roller for the large sheet metal work then drop back to 1.5" trim brush ( bristles off-set for corner work)
im sure that would give me good end results and i wouldn't have to put up with crap - looks like a backyard job
cheers and thanks for the imput
