If painting in 2pak you also use flexi prime. It's the primer that prevents cracking and flaking.

Billy, your car is really looking good :)

danny

well the first paint handled two trips to the top end with 25,000 klm in total and 6 years on the car so it held well. I am actually using two plastic primers -one via aerosol and the more expensive stuff called lesonal 1k plastic primer which is sprayed directly on the plastic and pretty expensive at $55 litre

speed

if you keep this up -you will have to come up for a test drive  well its no-where near perfect BUT it is way ahead of the white car so I can say it has been worth the trouble :)

its only when you start adding stuff back on its starting to show its true colour

I concur !
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I'd be happy just seeing it in the flesh.

You've done a lot of quality work in such a short time frame.
Can't wait to see more pics of the entire car once she's all back together and buffed.

Just out of curiosity, what product are you using to dye the dash?

what a great day! when I got up and peered through the back window of the house -much to my delight the old man in the red suite had just finished spray painting my rear spoiler and sitting it next to the car

so that saved me a bit of work and his painting was about equal to mine....... :D well I thought mine was a tad better but one must not complain about gifts  so a good day was had by all

I also hope all the members had a very good xmas day too

colour coded the door handles today ....RED. I had plans on black but went for the safer option.

after that fitted the additional molding to the bottom of the rear bar and back on the car

next up the centre consul was completely re-dye again so it is now good to go. plus the body line belt now looks much neater sitting around the rear top half. no more chipped or scratch paint to hide

last move for the day was to bolt the soft top in position. easier said than done and it took a bit of aligning to get the 3 bolt holes to line up. I will continue on this part of the - put them back on - tomorrow

overall I am pretty happy how things are going and I think I have a SE far ahead of what I started with a few weeks ago
