The MSM OEM 2-port valve in that spot was reported on several occasions as causing problems when people replaced it with a MBC but left it in place because when the hoses were removed, all that was was holding it in place was its metal bracket, the attached hoses were providing some damping - when the bracket finally snapped due to engine vibration, it was left swinging from the attached harness (guys were leaving the harness attached to the valve to avoid the CEL error).
I used to advise people to remove it altogether and insert a resistor across the harness pins to prevent the CEL error.
Fortunately for me, much more brilliant mechanical minds than mine (i.e the brilliant Ben Simpson, has those issues well sorted for me, when he rigged it to pipe the cold rad water to feed in to the rear cylinders...... as for the
