Re: NC Track Car - In the Build
Danny, just wondering if you have kept a total of man hours and parts cost?
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE
Plus several others in the bone yard...

Hi Lou, parts yes, man hours not so much....but it wouldn't take much to work out a reasonable estimate for this. Of course it's in the thousands of hours.
Cheers,
Danny

Re: NC Track Car - In the Build
These photos show the mould with all the layers of carbon in position, the peel ply on top and the vacuum and resin distribution lines in place....all ready for bagging and vacuum to be applied.

This is one half of the side skirt moulds finished.

The plug for the heat duct almost complete.

Smoothing all the surfaces out.

Flanged!

With the mould for the door's outer skin completed, it was time to mould the inner skin.

The plug for the front splitter in progress. NB this did not make it into production for WTAC 2014.

Front plug progress photo.

To post cure all the carbon components we modified a 20ft shipping container to be a gas fired oven.

Plumbing of the air-jacks was almost completed. Just the supply line to be done.

Two fire suppression nozzles were fitted in the boot area direct at the fuel and oil systems.

A couple of progress shots of the wiring loom.

So at the end of September this was where we were at. Still plenty of work to do as the car had to be track ready by the 14th October!
Cheers,
Danny

Beautiful work, are you able to do c/f NC hard tops for sale?

Yes we will be doing them. However, we're still a few months away from having them ready.

As you know there is already one from Deckspeed Racing. Given half a chance Lightyear will produce them as well.
I'm also looking at export opportunities as the local market (number of NC soft tops) is pretty small....fingers crossed the AUD weakens further.

Danny

So keen to see it!
Pretty much Shane. :-)
Just finishing a few minor things and making adjustments to some things we found at WTAC.
I'm really looking forward to driving at a familiar track.
Will see you there.
Cheers,
Danny

Re: NC Track Car - In the Build
can't wait to see the full aero package develop.
glad to see you are starting to get some miles on the clock.
is there scope for the car to make its way into pro class with development or would that require a complete re development?

I haven't thought that far ahead James. Until such time as my times plateau and depending whether they're competitive or not will determine which direction I go (if any). Lets just wait and see what the next 12 months brings.

Re: NC Track Car - In the Build
Had a really good test day out at the Maximum Attack event at Queensland Raceway on Saturday.
This was the first time I've had the car at QR so I was really excited to drive at a circuit I knew. The few bits and pieces we addressed after WTAC 2014 went very well and uncovered a few more bits and pieces that need addressing.
By the end of the event I had achieved what was previously known as the Holy Grail in the local Time Attack series. This is when you complete a sub-60 second lap of the Clubman Circuit....and I was stoked to do this at my first QR event with a 59.3986 second lap.
Here's a few photos from the usual culprits....

Here's a short video of a few laps (early in the event) before my camera died!
...and a well put together video summary of the event.
Cheers,
Danny
