Not sure I just tighten them down a bit. Don't have a tool ATM that can measure tension I just go bully feel from what I know.
Did you know a tension it should be at?

No:) - as with you I was figuring a torque wrench tightning may not be necessary but thought I would ask. Maybe someone else can advise?

Re: lolmx5's NA8
means I've just been through that I'm using That alloy polish in a tube.
But you've hot a lot of sanding ahead of you.
It comes up real nice
Several ways you can do it.
340 grid wet & dry
Fining compound wheel ( not sure what material it uses)
Polish compound wheel
Or go through different grades of sand paper. Up to 1500 or 2000 & finish it off by hand.
Either way you have a lot of sanding ahead of you

Re: lolmx5's NA8
Little bit of an update,
Have. My cam cover off and started to sand it maybe so spent about 2 hours or so, so far and really not much progress, still only have 400 grit sandpaper, gonna go buy more soon maybe on the weekend. But I'm not rushing as it's not moving for now.
Here it is as it sits ATM
Now for more exciting news
Revived a package from Japan, bagged myself a genuine r package spoiler needs small bit of repair on both corners and a paint job but keen af to get it on.
Have taken the rear garnish off to fit the Mazda badge but will be going on on the weekend.
More updates to come

Re: lolmx5's NA8
Yep, polishing takes forever. By good quality paper and change it often, otherwise it takes even longer!
A cheap hand whizzer sander helps things along as well if you're not using one already.

Looks good, keep going.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I've got the same rear spoiler in perfect red. You wanna buy it (avoid you needing to repaint yours)?

Re: lolmx5's NA8
Update with better photos of rear,
Rear garnish put back together and put on a sticker on the rear window I got for Christmas, I think it goes very well with the car. Gonna keep it for now.
Also picked up a white line rear sway bar for pretty cheap. 16mm non adjustable gonna be painting it black and putting it on. Keep it looking stock underneath.
More to come, also looking at radiator replacement. I'm thinking of getting a factory replacement SE radiator because I hear they are thicker and still look oem, let me know what you guys have done. Thanks

Re: lolmx5's NA8
RE the radiator;
I still run the OEM SE rad on the problem child- considering the the rather large size intercooler sitting in front of it and the 350-360+ rwhp it puts out, I have never to this point ( as a street car however and not yet run through its paces on a track) had an issue with overheating- and that's factored in numerous stop start 2-3 hours plus driving in peak hour gridlock on a scorching summer day.
Just as a footnote though, I have the rad sightly angled at the base a few degrees to allow a tad more airflow and have removed all the plastic splash pan (I'm also still considering some cowling for piece of mind)

ok sounds good, the cars gonna be set up for street spirited driving and running pretty much stock, the current rad works but is just a bit brown. thought i would give it a little help with a thicker one from an SE, just wanted to make sure it was a good idea , thanks for your input mate. will go ahead and source myself a new rad. will hopfully get a silicon hose kit as well just to replace all the rubber hoses. should be a good upgrade for this little beast

Re: lolmx5's NA8
I would strongly recommend keeping the plastic undertray intact - although it might work for Daffy, it is generally accepted that removing the undertray will hurt airflow through the radiator and compromise cooling.
Lots of good info on the MX5 cooling system and its weaknesses: http://www.miataturbo.net/race-prep-75/miata-cooling-system-thread-79930/
A stock street car with a stock good condition cooling system will be fine on the street. On the track, especially if you have A/C, you may start to push the limits of the stock cooling system, even with an otherwise stock car.
